(Review from Dec. 2025): First time at Gramercy Tavern, we had lunch on the tavern side. We both really enjoyed everything we ate, they are serving some really solid American food. The flatbread and dips and the burger stood out above the rest. I think the burger is an all timer in the city. The milk and cookie dessert was fun but it didn’t blow us away. Gramercy also has a great cocktail program, so definitely keep that in mind. I had one of the best dirty martinis ever, it came with homemade blue cheese olives that were out of this world. As to be expected of this restaurant group, the service we experienced Michelin quality, attentive but warm and easy. They brought us a complimentary mini-cake to celebrate our anniversary, it was delicious. One great thing about Gramercy is how seasonal it is. It makes you want to return to see the new menu items and motifs. Overall, highly recommend Gramercy Tavern and can’t wait to return!

My husband and I had a late lunch with our parents to celebrate our wedding earlier that same day, and Gramercy Tavern was the perfect treat to mark the occasion! From the moment we walked in, the service we received warm and welcoming, and every staff member we interacted with congratulated us. The food and cocktails we ordered were all delicious, but the burger and cherry sundae were the true standouts—I will be talking about the sundae for a long time. And the complimentary toast and cake we received were such thoughtful touches. For Michelin-quality food and service, it's hard to to beat Gramercy Tavern's value. Already looking forward to my next meal there!
Had such a great experience at the Tavern at Gramercy Tavern. The service was outstanding from start to finish — attentive, welcoming, and made the whole dining experience feel special.

The food was also absolutely delicious. The pesto bread was truly one of a kind and honestly one of the highlights of the meal. The pork shoulder was incredibly flavorful and tender, and the burger was juicy, rich, and perfectly cooked. The fish was just okay compared to the other dishes, but everything else really stood out.

And the dessert… the upside down mango cake was to die for. Such a unique and memorable ending to the meal. Overall, definitely worthy of a 5-star experience and I would absolutely come back again.
Walk in, sat on the bar alone, around 5pm.

The food was nice, got a salad and the beef carpaccio. The carpaccio was great though a tad too salty. The citrus salad’s peanut dressing was incredible, but the huge citrus chunks were not to my taste.
Had 2 great cocktails. The service was practically impeccable.
We had such a wonderful dinner at Gramercy Tavern. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive — they even told us about the champagne with pineapple and shared the history behind the pineapple as a symbol of hospitality, which was so interesting.

The food was absolutely delicious, and the interior is beautiful, with thoughtful and unique details. We were also pleasantly surprised by the number of compliments from the restaurant — it made the whole experience feel extra special and warm.

We truly loved everything about our evening and can’t wait to come back again ✨
My wife and I had the pleasure of spending a Sunday afternoon at Gramercy Tavern, and it was great experience.

The menu is thoughtfully curated, simple in structure yet rich in flavor, with a three-course format that allows you to choose what best suits your palate. I opted for the wine pairing, which was beautifully selected and enhanced each course seamlessly.

The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely gracious. The team was consistently welcoming, always smiling, and perfectly attuned to the rhythm of the meal. The pacing was impeccable, allowing us to relax and fully enjoy each moment.

From a culinary perspective, the golden beets were an exceptional start, vibrant, balanced, and absolutely delicious. I had the hanger steak, cooked to perfection, while my wife chose the Snowdance Farm chicken, which was equally outstanding.

We ended on a high note with desserts: the apple tart and pistachio pudding were both fantastic, providing a refined and satisfying close to a delightful afternoon.

All in all, a beautiful New York dining experience, elegant yet relaxed, with exceptional food, impeccable service, and a timeless atmosphere. We will certainly return.
Love this place. We have been celebrating all our major milestone events here for at least 25 years. There have been a few bumps along the road over the course of all those years, but they have pretty much managed to sustain the magic of every single bite.
Most recently, we had lunch here to celebrate a birthday. Three courses for under $80 is an amazing bargain to eat there.
I’m so impressed at the longevity of this outstanding restaurant.
We had the prix fixe 5-course meal. Everything was good! As is typical in this type of restaurant, the smaller plates were the true stars. The entrees were solid but unspectacular. Dessert ended the evening with a bang, and the bartending is top notch as well.
If I had to become a regular anywhere, this would be my pick. You can tell how impressive this restaurant is by the way they execute American cuisine—which, as you know, is usually my least favorite. But they absolutely nailed it.

I was genuinely so pleased with everything. The farm chicken with the onion rings were standouts. Crispy, perfectly fried. The beef steak sandwich looked incredible, but I was way too full to even take a bite—so I’ll definitely be back and will keep you posted. The beef carpaccio was delicious, and while the mushrooms pasta were slightly salty, the creamy, flavorful sauce paired perfectly with the sweet potato bun. (This is their restaurant week menu!)

And let me just say—the desserts are a must. You have to get the apple pie. It was amazing, especially with the hint of balsamic vinegar and Parmesan—holy moly!! The chocolate cake came with a woodside-flavored ice cream that I had never tried before, and I absolutely fell in love.

The back room is stunning, and the service is easily the kind to deserve 30% tip—attentive, polished, and welcoming. This is also an amazing spot to bring your partner to meet the family!
Gramercy Tavern offers an exceptional dining experience with warm hospitality and beautifully crafted dishes. Seasonal ingredients shine in every course, and the cozy yet refined atmosphere makes it feel special without being stuffy. A true NYC classic worth savoring.
Came here by myself

Friendly staff and great food!
As a Chinese I usually don’t like American style food
But the chief here made a good balance!
I completely finished all the dishes

Only sauce for the fish is still a little creamy for me but the fish itself is not greasy at all.

Love here
Excellent dinner from start to finish.
The seasonal menu was thoughtful and well executed, with great balance and high-quality ingredients. The lamb main was cooked perfectly and full of flavor, and the overall pacing of the meal felt just right. Desserts were refined and not overly sweet. Professional service and a relaxed, elegant atmosphere. Would definitely return.
The Dining Room is perfect for a date as it is less crowded and reservations are easier to come by. The service was impeccable, and they even let us order the famous burger and cookie from the Tarven's menu. If you want to try their famous burger but can't get a reservation for the Tarven, give their Dining Room a try! But just keep in mind that you are unlikely to be able to order anything else besides the burger and desserts from the Tarven's menu, as they try to keep the two restaurants separate. Overall, while we had a great dining experience there, the famous burger didn't live up to its hype. It's nice, but nothing special. The cookie , on the other hand, was a winner! The Hanger Steak was delicious, tender and juicy, a little on the sweeter side. The bread was also very good 😋.
Gramercy Tavern has been a New York City institution forever, and based on the service alone, it’s clear they intend to remain one until the end of time. Every interaction felt like a master class in hospitality — the kind that makes you reconsider why you ever tolerate mediocre service anywhere else.

We went with the 3-course lunch, which is somehow both a deal and a feast. Pair it with the Fall Wines for maximum seasonal smugness; they matched the food beautifully and made me briefly consider becoming someone who uses the word “terroir” unironically.

The butternut squash soup was very good, rich, and maybe just a touch too eager to finish — like a guest who overstays by five minutes, but you don’t mind because they brought a nice bottle of wine.

The beef carpaccio was delicious, although I personally could have done without the chopped red peppers. A bold choice — not one I would’ve voted for on the committee.

The pork cutlet got rave reviews from our table, but the true star was the hanger steak. Whatever temperature you think you want? Ignore yourself. Go with the chef’s recommendation. It was not only excellent — it was better than the steak we’d had at Jean-Georges the night before. Yes, that Jean-Georges. Consider this our official endorsement.

Desserts were equally strong: the hazelnut tart was a standout, and the chocolate cake was also wonderful — assuming you still have the physical capacity for dessert at that point in your personal journey.

Noise levels were perfectly acceptable, and the dining room struck that elusive balance of relaxing, elegant, and energetic — like a room full of people who all got a full eight hours of sleep and are proud of it.

In short: Gramercy Tavern earns every bit of its reputation. Come for the service, stay for the steak, and leave wondering when you became the kind of person who raves about butternut squash soup.
I’ve been wanting to try Gramercy Tavern for a while, and it didn’t disappoint. The space is beautiful—big but warm, with a great vibe that makes it feel both lively and welcoming. Service throughout was friendly, personable, and exactly what you’d expect from a restaurant of this caliber. I went with the tasting menu, which was excellent and very seasonal. Each course came with two options, and there were some tough choices to make. The meal started strong with an amuse-bouche of oysters that were outstanding and set high expectations for the rest of the night. The beets I had as a starter were delicious and perfectly in season, and the hay-smoked gnocchi was another standout—rich, earthy, and full of flavor. The lamb was also excellent, though my portion had a bit more bone than I would’ve liked. Dessert brought things full circle with a hazelnut tart in a Concord grape sauce that was both seasonal and beautifully balanced. Overall, an outstanding dinner and a place I’d happily return to!
