Go-to place for a classic Chinese dim sum experience. Consistent flavor and service. Got dim sum trolleys on weekends, you barely see that in China anymore. Can get crowded so come early, but tables turn around fast enough. My favorite, pork short ribs, shrimp dumplings, chicken feet and piggy buns. Never gets tired! Great for big family gatherings and wedding corporate events because of the round table, big space and media equipments.

Response from the owner

It means a lot to us to hear you enjoy the classic dim sum experience we strive to provide. Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon!

Limited vegan options and almost impossible to understand what is on the menu or what they are serving. Which I guess is part of the charm. What I did eat was very good not great- and I saw lots of people eating extraordinary looking food around me. Finally when the check came there was a new server who was lovely- not sure where she was during the meal. Seemed very authentic but too chaotic for me.

Response from the owner

Thank you for sharing your feedback, Spencer. We appreciate your comments and are glad to hear you enjoyed some of the dishes and atmosphere. Your feedback regarding the menu and overall dining experience has been noted and will be reviewed with our team as we continue working to improve. Thank you for visiting and sharing your thoughts.

A typical dim sum experience. Good tasting authentic Cantonese food. Nothing extraordinary but everything was done up to standard. Chicken feet and beef intestines were pretty good. Worth at try.

me and my son went there for lunch. we were just looking for somewhere close by. So this had good reviews. This place was phenomenal!!! the food was incredible!!! it was reasonably priced. they do carts that come to the table. And each dish you grab has a set price. I could have stayed there all day. The vibe was really good. I can't rave enough about how incredible the food was. It was just completely amazing in every way. The little custard cups, had like an almond flaky crust. I could have just got 15 plates of only that and been satisfied. I will 100% go again.

Response from the owner

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We’re delighted to hear you and your son enjoyed the dim sum, atmosphere, and traditional cart service. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon!

I heard about this place and I have always wanted to come here. One word- disappointed ☹️
We came here in the late afternoon for dim sum and themed posted online or tha I have even elsewhere and the one thehave us was not the same . It was more modified and they did not bring carts around . You have to order it off a menu and then the bring it to you.
Our server was nonchalant and he did not care.
We ordered a bunch of items such as steamed pork bun, steamed pork and shrimp, chicken feet, beef ribs, dim sum combo, shrimp and leek as we were hungry.
Steam pork bun was soft and no doughy
Steamed pork and shrimp bun was one solid piece, shrimp and leek was good, chicken feet was ok as I had better before,
Beef ribs was a big no/no- too chewy. Dim sum combo was ok.
If you go for service - don’t go.
Dim sum menu was modified and small. Wait times for food was long .
As for me, it was a one and done. I will go elsewhere instead.

Response from the owner

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience did not meet expectations. Our dim sum cart service is normally available daily until 4 PM, though service may transition to menu ordering depending on availability or special events. We appreciate your comments regarding the food and service, and your feedback has been noted and will be reviewed with our team as we continue working to improve. Thank you for visiting and sharing your experience.

I love Golden Unicorn. It's one of the best dim sum place. However, I came at 12 today and they told me they ran out of clams. Dim sum is brunch ( breakfast +lunch), how come they don't have clams at 12?
BTW, they're clams are delicious, everything is delicious here.

Response from the owner

Thank you for sharing your feedback, Mili! We’re so glad to hear you enjoy the dim sum and appreciate your kind words. Our clams are a very popular item and tend to sell out quickly, especially during busy brunch hours. We appreciate your understanding and hope to welcome you back again soon.

I’m usually not a big dim sum person, but I genuinely enjoyed the food here. The standout for me was the century egg porridge - it was so well done, flavorful, and not overly salty, which I really appreciated. I would absolutely come back just for that!

The chicken feet were also very tasty and nicely balanced, not too sweet. My husband enjoyed the other dishes he ordered as well, so overall we had a good meal.

As for the dim sum itself, I’d say it was good, though not the best I’ve ever had. I’ve definitely had better elsewhere. But the porridge alone made this place memorable for me.

Response from the owner

Thank you for sharing your experience, Scarlett! We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the dishes, especially the century egg porridge. We appreciate your thoughtful feedback and are happy you had a good overall meal. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

It’s been quite awhile since I last visited Golden Unicorn, and I must say that the ambiance has noticeably improved. Including the restroom 😅 We were on the second floor and the dining area is less cluttered and is culturally appealing. I am very glad to see that the dim sum dishes are still served through the push carts. Wish there were more places that offered this. The dishes were all tasty but the waitstaff forgot to place an entree that we ordered. They were also slow in bringing utensils that we requested. Nonetheless, we still had a wonderful time celebrating the Year of the Horse.

Response from the owner

Thank you for sharing your experience, Chi. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the updated ambiance and the traditional dim sum cart experience. We appreciate your feedback regarding the service and have noted your comments as we continue working to improve. Thank you for celebrating with us, and we hope to welcome you back again soon.

Golden Unicorn remains an authentic dim sum place where you can still see staff pushing traditional carts through the aisles. It is a significant improvement since my last visit a few years back; the 3F interior offers beautiful Hong Kong / Chinese wedding vibes, perfect for family gatherings. You must try the shrimp Shumai — we ordered several rounds. While the atmosphere feels like Lunar New Year, the toilets need attention. They are too few, tiny, and crowded, which doesn't quite match the elevated feel of the dining floor. Overall, a great festive spot for a group meal.

Response from the owner

Thank you for sharing such thoughtful feedback, Bing! We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the dim sum experience and atmosphere. Your comments are appreciated and will be taken into consideration as we continue improving the overall guest experience. Thank you for visiting, and we hope to welcome you back again soon.

I ate at Golden Unicorn in early January because I was craving authentic dim sum while visiting New York, and I’m so glad I came here. This location was recommended by a friend, and it absolutely lived up to the recommendation.

While the outside of the restaurant doesn’t initially seem like it’s in the nicest area, the inside is absolutely gorgeous and very eye-catching. The red and gold interior is beautiful and really sets the tone for the experience. We arrived around 2:30 PM and were seated quickly. Almost immediately, the dim sum carts started coming around offering food, with a huge selection to choose from. You’re also provided with a menu that includes photos, which makes ordering very easy, especially if you’re not familiar with the names of certain dishes.

The hot tea is complimentary and absolutely delicious, with a great herbal flavor. Everything we tried was excellent, but my favorite items were the soup dumplings and the pan-fried dumplings. The piglet buns were also incredibly cute and fun to try.

Service was very attentive and quick throughout the meal. The only minor downside was that there was a large screen in the middle of the restaurant that appeared to be frozen and loading the entire time, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience.

We really enjoyed our time at Golden Unicorn and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for authentic dim sum. I would definitely come back for more on my next visit to New York.

Response from the owner

Thank you so much for visiting and sharing such a thoughtful review, Sydney! We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed the dim sum selection, atmosphere, and attentive service, and that the experience lived up to the recommendation. We appreciate you pointing out the TV screen and will look into it. We truly appreciate your kind words and look forward to welcoming you back again on your next trip to New York.

ABSOLUTELY the BEST Dim-Sum restaurant in the Northeast area!!
Fresh, tasty and very authentic Cantonese cuisine just like what you can find in Hong Kong.
Although the dining room could be a bit noisy, the service is actually quite fast/good.
Reservations are highly recommended. If you want to just walk-in, it’s better you show up before 11am on Saturday and Sunday. Otherwise you may have to wait up to one hour.
They also have a to-go only entrance on the ground floor.

Response from the owner

Thank you for sharing your experience with us, Emil! We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed the dim sum and found the flavors authentic to Hong Kong. Thank you again for your support, we look forward to welcoming you back soon!

My family and I was in NYC to visit from Philadelphia. We have dimsum in PA as well but the experience and the food here taste so much better!

Everything was steamed hot in the carts and every dishes was so savory and tasty. They have a wide variety of option and deserts. I definitely recomended the shumai, chicken feet, and the tofu skin rolls.

We had a great time here and we’ll definitely come back if we’re in the city the next time!

Response from the owner

Thank you for sharing your experience, Steven! We’re so happy to hear you and your family enjoyed the dim sum and the variety of dishes. We truly appreciate your kind words and look forward to welcoming you back next time you’re in the city!

Been here when studying in East coast long while ago and thus want to revisit. Love the interior and spacious seating and of cause the food carts pushing around the tables for you to choose are much fun and missed, most dim sum restaurants not offer the food carts nowadays, even in Asian countries. Food are delicious generally, we enjoyed a lot on all dim sum dishes. We had brunch on a weekday and thus no wait time. However, the second want to revisit on a weekend lunch time, we had waited almost an hour downstairs outside the elevator and still so crowded. Had to change to another nearby dim sum restaurant after an hour wait. Recommend to go on weekdays or go earlier over weekends and prepare for long wait.

Response from the owner

Thank you for sharing your experience with us, Tan! We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and traditional dim sum cart service. We truly appreciate your feedback and look forward to welcoming you back again soon!
