Our server, Julia, was great! We were seated in the small room to the left which was very cozy and cute! I ordered the lamb meatballs from the appetizer which was delicious. The burrata was fine but the veggies and bread it came with was delicious. My husband had the lamb entree which he enjoyed but the potatoes it came with had a strange sweetness he didn’t enjoy. The cheddar biscuit was very dry. The complimentary cornbread with apple chutney was delicious.

If you’re going with a group, I’d recommend reserving the room at the entrance. It’s like a small attic room - intimate, cozy, and beautiful decor. The crostini was my favorite appetizer although the sweet potatoes were great. The chicken pot pie lived up to the hype, it’s seriously a must order here. Lastly, I recommend the crimson harvest for drinks! It’s so good!

I’m now friends with Friend of a Farmer - and I can’t wait to hand with them again. What an eclectic spot, nestled in the charming Gramercy Park neighborhood of NYC. Reservations are a must, as this place is right and seating is limited. But it’s worth it.

The aesthetic is 19th century New England farmhouse, so forget the dark styling and modern atmosphere that populates most of Gotham’s eateries. This place is as unique as they come. Grab a table or sit at the warm bar on the first floor.

We opted for brunch, which was to die for. I had a breakfast wrap with a spicy kick and layered with sausage and egg. My wife had a full breakfast complete with eggs and pumpkin pancake, and it was all top notch. And OMG… the home fries. Boom.

Service was little rustic, meaning it was slow - but we weren’t in a rush. Bathrooms are clean, so another plus. They can also fit a larger group upstairs, but I’m guessing you need advanced reservations to pull that off.

Put this place on your list. A must-try.

First time visiting to Friend of a Farmer. The decor is super cute and cozy, and the service was friendly and attentive.
Already a long line outside of the door when we arrived and the host would come sit you by party size as tables open, but the wait wasn’t bad at all.
We ordered the quinoa bowl and the crab cake benedict special, and both were delicious with very generous portions.
We didn’t try their famous chicken pot pie this time, but would definitely come back with a bigger group to share one next time. Overall a great experience!

Friend of a Farmer is one of my favorite restaurants. The ambiance is beautiful with such a cozy and welcoming atmosphere😊

The staff is always very kind and attentive, and I especially want to mention my server today, Terrence, who was wonderful.

My favorite dish is the Boomer Special — I always choose the French toast and sausage. It never disappoints!

I highly recommend this place for any occasion ❤️

Absolutely amazing food, service and cocktails from start to finish. Great place to go to when wanting to get into a cozy vibe. We got the Bees Knees cocktail, Crostini appetizer, then shared the Duck and Shepherds Pie for our entrees…everything was mouthwateringly delicious 🤤 it was like a flavorful journey that brought joy to our souls and we all need little glimmers of joy, especially right now.

Hesitated a few times before organizing a dinner here due to some reviews. The food is rustic, down to earth and delicious and so so much cheese. The ribs were so tender.

Don't know how rest of the place is laid out as we were near the entrance in a crammped nook, also felt the wait staff didn't check on us as often due to the location.

Went here for a solo breakfast whilst in NYC. Really cosy interior, really enjoyed the design and warmth of it. The staff were very friendly and chatty, which was appreciated. I ordered the boomer special (which is a little bit of everything) with the apple pancakes and the smoked salmon as the protein - it was all delicious and very well done classic American food. Coffee was also great. Thank you 💫💫

Drinks: 9/10
I’ve visited 3 times. I typically have water or French press coffee. I know that’s a *low* threshold but the coffee is always brewed well, not better, very smooth, and seems to be some sort of breakfast blend because it doesn’t make me jittery. I really like that! I believe the last time I visited, I ordered whatever bottled water they had available. It feels silly to *rate* water but it was fine.

Service: 10/10
I’ve never had a reservation coming here but I always get a seat pretty easily. Whenever I’ve come in the host greets me immediately and gets me squared away. I’ve come during busier times and more chill times, the wait hasn’t been more than 10-15 mins. Also the servers are really sweet, knowledgeable, and seem to have amazing timing when it comes to checking in on how the meal is going.

Food: 9/10
Always FRESH and the hot dishes are HOT. The entire concept is farm to table so the ingredients are seasonal which will may some dishes different from season to season.

The last time I went I ordered:
Rose Club - the chicken on this sandwich was really juicy and the sandwich itself was pretty big so I saved half. The fries were really crispy on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside.

Biscuit - I wasn’t too much of a fan of the biscuit. If it was called a “roll”, I’d be completely happy with it but it just didn’t give “biscuit”.

Cornbread waffle bites topped with caviar and crème fraîche - I’ll think about this appetizer often. The cornbread waffle was delicious, crispy, the right amount of sweet and moist. The caviar was the PERFECT salty, seafood-y addition that truly is a competitor to your favorite waffle and other protein duos.

Ambiance: 8/10
I will say I’ve sat outside during the warmer seasons and inside (upstairs) during the colder ones. Outdoor dinning was perfectly fine, nothing stands out in my memory about it being exceptional or unfavorable. Dining indoors is bit cramped however I feel like it does add to a certain coziness level in the space. They also have it decorated for the seasons with a working fireplace upstairs that adds a certain life to the space.

Overall: 9/10
I love this place and I’ll return. I can always look forward to consistently good service, fresh/delicious food and a bit of a rotating menu that compliments the season. You really can’t go wrong with that.

Recently went and it was a very pleasant experience. The meal started off with a complimentary cornbread with apple sauce which was excellent. The burger was top tier and so was the chicken. The servers were attentive but I did feel a little rushed to get through the meal quickly. There is outdoor seating with space heaters to keep you warm. Overall I would return.

Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff and pumpkin walnut pancakes full of light fall flavor. The pumpkin flavor wasn't overpowering the dish. It was a nice and light. I love nuts so I was glad to see all three pancakes had a generous amount of crunch. The syrup gave it a nice sweet touch without being too sweet. Loved the ambience and the staff were all very friendly as they checked to ensure all was well. I will be going back soon!

Charming farmhouse vibes at this quaint restaurant with a menu that is mostly brunch options with some lunch plates. Chicken pot pie was very good, and I nibbled some of my friend’s pancakes which were also delicious. Service seemed a bit inattentive but overall decent. Great option for lunch!

What a fun brunch spot! Cozy decor and delicious menu options! I got apple pancakes with house-made apple compote, and my husband got the breakfast wrap. Both tasted great and service was quick. We were able to walk in at 11am on a Sunday without a reservation, which was also a big plus. Would return again!
