Pretty fair prices.
No complains on the food it was just your typical breakfast/lunch restaurant.
My cousin ordered the pancakes I believe? And I ordered the grilled cheese which was pretty good. Like I said just your average food place.
Very dissatisfied with the service, the ladies up front were very nice and gave us a seat where we could tuck our luggage behind our seats but our actual server was so rude.
Did not check on us once and when she finally came up to us all she asked was if we wanted the check and when I asked for another beverage she seemed irritated. After that I didn't even bother ordering the other food item I was looking forward to trying.
They didn't even have any line and there were plenty of empty tables even if there were other customers.

Response from the owner

Alexa, we're glad you enjoyed the grilled cheese and found our prices fair, though we're truly sorry your server didn't provide the attentive service you deserved—that's not the experience we want for our guests. We'd appreciate if you could reach out to us at info@friedmansnyc.com so we can make this right, and we hope you'll give us another chance to welcome you back for breakfast with the care you should have received.

Absolutely loved this restaurant! It’s a larger space but still feels warm and welcoming. The gluten-free options were excellent - clearly thoughtfully prepared. The matcha latte was one of the best I’ve had in a restaurant: perfectly balanced and thankfully not overly sweet.

The absolute highlight for us were the cheese blini - incredibly delicious and something I’d come back for alone. Service was friendly overall, although our waitress rushed us a bit at times. Still, the food and atmosphere easily made this a 5-star experience!

Response from the owner

CJ, we're so happy you loved the cheese blini – they really are something special and worth the trip alone! Thanks for the kind words about our gluten-free options and that perfectly balanced matcha latte. Can't wait to welcome you back for another warm and delicious experience!

I love coming here for breakfast! I get the avocado toast with poached eggs and a side of bacon. They are very accommodating to allergies and dietary restrictions, so it’s a great place for groups with varying needs and tastes. Service is quick & friendly too.

Response from the owner

Kelli, your love for our avocado toast with poached eggs and bacon totally made our day! We're so happy to hear we could accommodate your group and that our service hit the mark. Can't wait to see you back for another breakfast soon!

4/12/26: Added our name to the waitlist at approx 12:25. They said abt a 45 min wait and we were called to sit at 1:10. They sat us at a small cocktail table, which was odd but they were packed so we didn’t complain. Our server comes over to take our order and immediately excuses herself. When she comes back I ask is everything okay and she states, “yes, I had to ask my manager about starting an order for this table because this is where staff normally take their breaks.” I guess the little tablet she uses to take orders didn’t have that specific table listed. At that point we ask to move because why did we spend 45+ mins waiting to be seated where staff who get paid to work there take their breaks. My husband gets the manager and she states they’ll try to find a spot. I also want to add that there was a white couple seated AFTER us who got a regular 2 seater and the high top cocktail table that we were at also had one on the opposite side which surprise was empty! At this point our food comes to this small cocktail table and ofc it doesn’t fit. They finally move us and at that point our food is cold/subpar. Once moved we didn’t have an actual waiter and once we were done one of the waitresses comes over with an attitude for payment. We weren’t offered a discount for this experience and the manager also didn’t come back to see if we were happier at the new table. I would never recommend this place. That’s not how paying customers or anyone should be treated. If they would’ve said “we have a small high top cocktail table and can sit you now if you’re really hungry” that would’ve been one thing. Given us the option. But us waiting that long to be seated where staff take their breaks is beyond disrespectful. And I can’t help but think this wouldn’t have been done to a couple who didn’t look like us. As I stated I saw a white couple being seated AFTER us at a regular 2 seater. We have never been treated with such disrespect while dining and will never give Friedmans our money again. Shame on that entire staff involved.

Response from the owner

Jamie, we are deeply sorry for the unacceptable experience you had at our Times Square location. Please reach out to us at info@friedmansnyc.com so we can make this right.

We had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated, but the staff made us feel very welcome from the start. The atmosphere is lovely. The food was delicious and the portions were huge! Even as big eaters, we couldn't finish everything. Highly recommended!

Response from the owner

So pleased you enjoyed your time here! Your kind words make all the difference. Stop by again anytime.

This has to be the best breakfast I've had in a long time. My mother has celiac disease so I always look for gluten free places to take her to. This time, I found Friedman's so this is where I took her for her birthday. We had breakfast before a Broadway show and we're still talking about it days later. We've already discussed coming back and are actively making plans. She said it's the most delicious gluten free bread she has ever had and wished they sold it in loafs to take home. We can't say enough good things about this place.

People without reservations had a bit of a wait. Be sure to make one if you decide to go. It's worth it!

Response from the owner

Thanks for coming by, Jessica! Glad to hear our breakfast made such an impression with our fresh, farm-fresh ingredients. And yes, reservations are definitely the way to go to skip the wait!

Brought the family for dinner after seeing a tik tok about the singing servers. They were so incredibly talented! Food was fast and delicious. Burgers were perfect and the fries didnt taste too herby. Our picky eater gobbled them up. Prices were incredibly reasonable for nyc dining. Location was clean, staff friendly and accommodating. Nake advance reservations and have a milkshake, theyre incredible!

Response from the owner

So glad you had a great time, Liz! Glad our singing servers wowed the whole family and that your picky eater devoured those burgers and fries - sounds like we nailed it with our farm-fresh ingredients. Thanks for the TikTok shoutout and hope to see you back soon for another milkshake!

I was excited to try a gluten free restaurant, unfortunately
The food isn’t good.
The steak was covered in some kind of sweet sauce and was incredibly chewy.
The fries were undercooked. The fried fish tastes like it’s tilapia and I had to drown it in tartar sauce to make it taste somewhat decent.
Most of all…
Hostess was incredibly rude. First I hear her talking badly (in Spanish) about my boyfriend who simply asked where the bathroom was.
I had a foldable/collapsable stroller, she tried to say I couldn’t sit in a booth because of it. We had to speak to the manager in order to sit in a booth.
The servers are nice, we went on a night where they were singing, it was super loud, to the point it was uncomfortable and you couldn’t hear anything else let alone have a conversation.
The songs were from musicals, which some people might enjoy.
I will not visit again.

Response from the owner

Lin, we're deeply sorry your visit fell short of expectations, especially regarding the steak and fries quality along with the service issues you experienced. We take all concerns seriously and would appreciate if you could reach out to us at catering@friedmansnyc.com so we can address these matters properly. We hope to have another opportunity to show you the fresh, gluten-free dining experience we strive to provide.

We were craving some comfort food so decided to walk-in for brunch without reservations on a Saturday. The restaurant is pretty big, so even in the busy Times Sq. area we managed to get a table within 15 minutes.

Drop coffee ($6), Chicken Chilaquiles ($24), Grilled Cheese ($24), and Blueberry Pancakes ($21) is what our order consisted of. Food overall was inline with expectations, although paying $24 for grilled cheese felt a bit too much.

Portion sizes were perfect and service was really quick. Food arrived within 10 minutes of placing our order. Noise levels on the lower end and was easy to have conversation. Friendly staff who ensured we had an overall pleasant experience!

Response from the owner

Ameya, we’re happy you enjoyed your time with us! Your feedback means a lot. Can’t wait to welcome you back!

This is one I would like half stars for. Not a 4 but also not a 3. This restaurant was fine nothing overly exciting on the menu. The ambience is NY noisy bustling casual restaurant. Absolutely nothing bad about that. Tables are close together but positioned well as to not feel crowded. Spinach artichoke dip was okay, nothing memorable. The pastrami reuben was the best bite. Very tender pastrami. Overall a great sandwich. We split it between two people because it is very rich. Nothing here I would rush back for but also nothing bad. It is very close to several theaters and they do serve quickly so if you need a bite before a meal and are pressed for time this nay be an option.

Response from the owner

Kathy, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We're glad you enjoyed our pastrami reuben, made with tender, farm-fresh pastrami. While we regret that aspects of your visit fell short of expectations, we appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve. We hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a truly exceptional dining experience in the future.

There’s a lot of locations for this restaurant, which I didn’t know. But I went to this specific one on 47th street! It’s a cute corner, it has a couple of tables outside on the sidewalk and then a few more on the side by the street that are cute! That side is like a small narrow patio with charming character! The waitress was fantastic, Kennedy! She’s super friendly, polite and great to have a conversation with. She was very helpful about things to do and what to eat. The food was delicious and very generous portions! We also had mimosas and those were good portions as well. I recommend for breakfast or brunch! Everything was very well prepared and presented and delicious!

Response from the owner

Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience with us! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed your visit. Kennedy is an absolute gem, and we're thrilled that she made your dining experience even more delightful with her friendly service and helpful recommendations. It brings us joy to know that you savored our delicious and generously portioned dishes, including our mimosas. We take great pride in using fresh, farm-fresh ingredients to create flavorful and well-presented meals. Your kind words about the charming ambiance are truly appreciated. We look forward to welcoming you back soon for another enjoyable breakfast or brunch!
