Very good Monday specials. Have been coming here now for a few years. Good neighborhood spot.

Our server erika was the worst. Went for mother's day hoping to have amazing service and we ended up with nasty attitude. We understand its busy but its ur job. We gave her the benefit of the doubt due to the holiday but we had a bad experience overall. Would have preferred a nicer waitress for the night over her. Dont recommend

Response from the owner

Good morning. I’m sorry you had a bad experience. I would love to speak to you over the phone. My name is Leo, if you can give me a call in the afternoon would be great. Thank you

This place has turned me off to eating out completely. We should have said goodbye the moment we walked in. First of all, when we walked in there was a bunch of employees with el Patron shirts sitting at the bar and the tables. Maybe they were on break but still not a good look. Secondly, the food was atrocious. My son ordered barria tacos which were soggy and tasted like they used 3 day old meat. My mom and I ordered shrimp tacos. There was hardly any “shrimp” and all breaded which was burnt to a crisp. The tacos are also supposed to come with some vegetables on them which I couldn’t find. As per the words of my mom and I, the food at Taco Bell is better than this place. Don’t waste your money, just order a $3 taco from Taco Bell, it’s way better. Their chef should be fired or needs more cooking lessons because this was terrible. We will not be going back. Even their service sucks.

In response to what I assume is the manager, I did complain. If you claim to remember who I was then you should have seen the comment I left on the receipt but in case you didn’t…. I uploaded a picture. Also, we sat at your establishment for less than 1 hour. There were tables that were sitting when we came in and we left before them. We took the food that we didn’t eat home to my dog, he also didn’t eat it. As per my mother’s words, you couldn’t pay us to come back and eat what you claim is food.

Response from the owner

Thank you for your review. I understand you didn’t have a good experience with us. However looking at your table I saw you ate most of your dinner and I spoke to the waitress who was taking care of you and you never mentioned anything to her. Also at the time you were here there were only 4 employees with Patrón’s shirts. The bunch of people that were at the bar were from the funeral home. Not employees.

No, this is not my first or second time going to El patron I absolutely love the food and the drinks, but El patron needs to work on near a customer service and a promotion strategy. I made reservation a month before my first day because I knew my birthday was fall on taco Tuesday and it was on Cinco de Mayo, which is May 5. I made a reservation for six people. I made it to my reservation for 630. They wouldn’t honor my reservation saying it’s only walk-in so why did you accept reservations for this day if you weren’t going to take reservations and what is the difference between someone walking in in a six person party that you’re about to get four dollars out of almost $500 out of you have a large bar if you have a upstairs and you have a downstairs and you can eat outside so I couldn’t understand why they couldn’t accommodate my month old reservation. I end up leaving because they told me that a party at six but I have to wait two hours to get seated so me and my family left 30 minutes into my travels to the next destination they call and they say oh we have a table for a party of sex. I’m not feeling the way they did business you turned away a good amount of money and then turned around 30 minutes later to call me and tell me that there was availability now if they would’ve said you have 1:30 hours I would’ve stayed 30 minutes and then I would’ve left but you told me two hours off the rip and I was just un appetizing on top of the fact that you wouldn’t honor my month old reservation and I don’t know if I’ll be back there at atmosphere is nice. Food is good but when it comes to wasting peoples time, they did a number on that one. They didn’t even wanna look at the reservation. That’s a big problem for me and also as a business owner if I don’t close out a certain time of day on my calendar and I allow people to book I either have to accommodate them with the best possible time or I have to honor the date if I can, and they chose to do neither. Do what you were with this post but they really pissed me off.

Response from the owner

Thank you for your review. I understand your frustration. However we did not take any reservations on Cinco dd Mayo. The date was blocked of on open table. Not sure why it let you set up a reservation. We are not a very large restaurant we only seat around 90 people and it would have been very hard for us to accommodate a party of 6 at 6:30 when at that time we had a large waiting list. I’m so sorry you had to go through that.

First and foremost, I will never return to this restaurant again. Food was overall bad and the service and management, worse.

The worst part first:
The check comes and there is no detailed receipt breakdown, only two receipts both with the subtotal only and three “suggested tip” amounts of 18% through 25%. The total looked high for the two of us. I asked for the receipt details with food prices and when she brought it over, there was already an 18% tip added!!!! For a party of TWO!! That is a non starter. They said the owner decided this was the way he wanted it.l done.

There is not one restaurant I have EVER gone to that would add a tip for TWO people. I would have tipped that amount anyway but the waitress brings over a blank receipt with MORE “suggested tip” amounts and does not tell me it was automatically added? Nothing in the the menu about tips automatically being added??? Any PROPER respectable restaurant puts that information in writing AND would write “additional tip” on the receipt so the customer knows tips are already added.

Absolutely trying to dupe the customer out of money. Unacceptable. Someone came over and said “the waitress is new and she did not know”… that’s a bunch of BS because there are certainly the other things I mentioned above that they should ALSO be doing to prevent their customers from overtipping 36% or more.

Now add in the fact the fajita vegetables were burned black. I asked for pickled jalepenos twice only to get fresh jalepenos and after a THIRD time, I got the pickled ones I asked for. I asked for black beans, and she repeated it back to me when we ordered, and I got pinto beans.

Terrible customer service and absolutely deplorable management to add pre set tips and not change the receipt to read “additional tip”. That ONLY means they are aware and they hope you don’t look at the bill and overtip.

Deceitful. If you choose to go, be sure you ask for a detailed receipt and be sure you don’t add additional tip unless you want to. They are lucky they took the 18% automatically because after that stunt, they would have gotten nothing.

Adding to the original review here since the owner feels the need to respond with everything except an apology…..Written in the menu in fine print apparently as I did not see it nor would I EVER think an owner would automatically add a tip to a pert of TWO… but that makes it ok for you to bring over a check with NO details AND have additional 18%, 20%, 25% choices for gratuity???? How about YOU change your procedure and YOU program in “additional tip” with smaller APPROPRIATE amounts rather than try to dupe the customer? Or YOU TELL the customer when handing them a bill WITHOUT DETAILS that tip is included. And no, the food was not good for the reasons I stated above.

Response from the owner

Good afternoon. I remember this very clearly and I did mention to you that it’s posted on the menu that gratuity is added . If it’s the person I think you are the lady you were with did tell me the food was good. Now if the waitress didn’t perform her job go your satisfaction I do apologize. And yes I do have new staff that’s not a lie.

My experience at El Patron was extremely disappointing. From the moment we walked in, the service was unprofessional and dismissive. The staff was rude and inattentive, and it felt like we were being treated differently from other customers.
What made the situation worse was the uncomfortable atmosphere. Instead of feeling welcomed, we felt judged and unwelcome. The energy in the place was negative, and the way the staff interacted with us came across as discriminatory and disrespectful. We had a waitress with a burnt orange type colored hair and she took our orders and never came back. Then another waitress came who had the same dismissive demeanor came and started assisting us. I then saw our original waitress come out and I asked one of the other waitresses to get her attention for me and she told her coworker to tell me she was busy, mind you she was sitting in between the entrance of the bar and kitchen playing with straws.
No customer should ever feel uncomfortable or singled out while simply trying to enjoy an evening out on Valentine’s Day. Unfortunately, that was exactly our experience here.
I would not recommend this place based on the poor service and overall unpleasant environment. Respect and basic customer service go a long way — and sadly, that was missing here.

Response from the owner

Good evening I am very sorry about your experience at El Patron. I would love to speak with you during business hours, would you mind calling and asking for Leo. I do take my reviews serious since I have been at El Patron for 18 yrs hope to hear from you soon.

Thank You

I highly recommend this cuisine. I just returned from a trip and searched for a restaurant close to JFK Airport, and this Mexican place caught my eye. Now it’s going to my go-to restaurant after a getaway. The decor was nice. The staff were attentive. The drinks were good not too strong. If you like your drinks strong, I recommend asking for extra.
Cocktails:
Patrón frozen margaritas!! It’s worth the price!! You can’t beat the price at all!!

Appetizer:
The beef empanadas were delicious!! I can’t wait to order it again

Main meal :
Chicken tacos!! I enjoyed my tacos with the side of rice and beans. My daughter enjoyed chicken and steak quesadillas.

Will I return? Yes, next time I want to go to Brunch.

El Patron is a great spot to grab drinks and hang out with friends. The food is solid—especially the coconut rice, which I loved—and the drinks are just as good. The staff is attentive, though it would be even better if there were a bit more English spoken for easier communication. Overall, a fun and chill place to unwind!

Nice restaurant with delicious ethnic cuisine . The ambiance is nice, and the staff was in the process of decorating for the Valentine's season.
Chips and salsa are yummy. Try to empanadas for an appetizer, and you will not be disappointed. The salmon with coconut sauce and rice was well made and tasty. I would definitely order again. My hubby enjoyed his burrito, which was large and filling. Our companions also raved about enjoying their meals.
The drinks were tasty. Do not hesitate to visit this restaurant and have your meal with a delicious drink.

Went here with friends and I thought everything was great. The drinks are served in all sorts of bottles or skulls and are very well made. The guacamole was made fresh and delicious, and the enchiladas and burrito were outstanding. The service was good and friendly. The decor is nice with art all over upstairs and downstairs. Definitely recommend.

Disappointed in the food and we ordered so much! The chicken and pork lacked flavor. They only offered cholula hot sauce , no home-made salsa or other Mexican sauces! The drinks were ok, probably the only items I’d come back for, for my moneys worth. The interior was beautiful with the lights , murals and music but that’s about all that made up for this spot. The food and drinks were not authentic Mexican, won’t be back.

El Patron is known for their food and their nice frozen margaritas in the small patron bottles. I’ve been here many many times. Last time I was here service and food was great. I tried the enchiladas & delicious. But the drinks were not it. Especially not for the price. Tried another margarita and it was not it, the amount of sourness just doesn’t even let you enjoy the drink. I’ll be leaving some pics, hope this helps.

First time here and my sister told me to try the food here many many times, and I finally got around to it. It's a multi level establishment with a pretty chill ambiance. I love to try chicken tortilla soup from every Mexican restaurant, and theirs did not disappoint. I ordered the chimichangas which were bomb, and the Malibi Margarita. The family got fajitas, skirt steak, and the portions here are very generous. Overall a very good dining experience.
