Probably one of the worst Spanish food in the Bronx. Dry chicken and pernil, too oily and tastes old. Over priced for food that tastes as if it was kept from the day before. Not worst the money at all.

A little disappointed with my order. We've never had an issue in the past. The yuca was plain, no mojo and no onions. Also asked for extra mojo and got none. We ordered morcilla and it was dry and not fresh.

Someone ordered mango con los tres golpes for me while I was at the emergency room. Now to be fair I have learned my lesson to not buy from this restaurant years ago. We bought a family meal 3 times in a row and everytime sometime was off. In my book you have taken enough of my money and I move along. Anyways the mangu was HORRIBLE. The clumps was ridiculous...I understand that everyone does not like there mango smooth maybe a little lumpy but this order you could tell it was not cooked all the way and the laziness of mashing it was evident. Plus there was no seasoning so just boiled plantains half mashed. The onions were not seasoned correctly nor cooked. The eggs were not fried correctly and the salami is definitely a cheap version of what we all try to avoid at the supermarket. I did like that they came with maduros which was the only thing I could eat without hesitation.

Response from the owner

This is not the quality or care we aim to provide to our guests.

We take great pride in our food, and your feedback regarding the mangú, preparation, and overall quality is being taken seriously and will be reviewed with our kitchen team. We understand how disappointing this must have been. We truly appreciate you sharing your experience, as it helps us identify where we need to improve.

I ordered from this place but was disappointed when the food arrived. The chicken tasted strange, and the coconut juice seemed old. I called to request a refund, but they only sent a replacement and asked me to return the old food, which was also weird. Save your money—this place is a letdown.

Coming here for years. Avoiding it lately because service is not there. Only buy food when craving is overpowering, because it is outstanding. Every once in a while you get someone who cares about service. Order delivery if you want to avoid a bad experience.

This is some good Spanish food for breakfast lunch and or dinner. Food always good and hot. Also prices are still decent. That means a lot in today's economy. The staff is always pleasant to me.

The food used to be very good. Now it is horrible. I ordered a chicken with rice and gandules. Neither was good. The chicken has some kind of weird taste to it whether it’s in soup or baked. I don’t know what happens to this place but it has gone down unfortunately. It’s not the same at all.

As a loyal online customer, I decided to visit El Nuevo Bono Tropical in person to avoid the delivery fee and show my disabled aunt where we get our food. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the moment I walked in. Even though the restaurant wasn’t crowded, the staff ignored me while chatting with each other, leaving me standing at the counter with no acknowledgment. I even had to walk to another section of the restaurant just to get basic answers.

The service felt careless and unprofessional—a conversation shouldn’t matter more than a customer. I only stayed because I had already paid online, but the rude attitudes and lack of attention ruined the visit. Sadly, they lost a loyal customer that day.

Response from the owner

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We truly appreciate your loyalty as an online customer, and we’re very sorry to hear that your in-person visit didn’t feel welcoming. That’s not the impression we want anyone to have when walking through our doors.
We will be addressing the concerns you mentioned to ensure that every customer is acknowledged promptly and treated with the level of attention they deserve. Your feedback helps us identify areas that need improvement, and we take it seriously.
We hope you’ll consider giving us another opportunity to provide you with the service and experience you’ve enjoyed in the past. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.

Best Spanish food in the Bronx hands down. Authentic taste makes you feel like you are back on the island. The finger foods hit the spot and you can't go wrong with rice and beans. Garlic sauce is out of this world.

Reasonable prices. The food is so good 😋. The restaurant is packed, but I recommend it because the food is so worth it. I had rice and beans, mofongo plain with fried cheese on the side, and garlic on the side for the mofongo. It was slamming! They serve it with a salad 😋👍🏼. A must try.

The food is horrible. This use to be a go to spot, but it has seriously fell off. The beef tasted spoiled, the bacalito patty wasn’t cooked, the pastelito was too hard to bite, the mangu had something in it. I threw everything away. Wouldn’t even feed it to a dog.

You pay a lot $ for Fresh food. What they give you is food that is precooked instead of giving you fresh plantains and chicken cutlet that was grilled then they fry it. This restaurant has lost its touch it’s a shame.

I recently have visited this authentic Spanish restaurant thanks to a coworker at work that recommended what I could say is the food is good. Unfortunately the customer service is not that great. They definitely could work on customer service.
