Im new to this location and it was packed. The service is quick and efficient. The rice was a bit dry but the meat was well seasoned. I would give it another try.

I wanted to love this place. I really did. The name alone carries weight and there was a time when this spot was the place to go for real Puerto Rican food done right. That time, unfortunately, is not now.
We ordered the alcapurrias, pernil, morcilla, and rice, essentially the backbone of a proper Puerto Rican spread. Every single dish was a disappointment. The alcapurrias were dense and dry with no seasoning coming through. The pernil, which should be tender, flavorful, and falling apart, was tough and tasteless like it had been sitting out far too long before hitting the plate. The morcilla had no depth to it. And the rice? Dry. Flavorless. Filler.
The meats across the board were subpar, not fresh, not well seasoned, not cooked with care. You could tell this wasn't food made with pride today. It tasted like food made a while ago and reheated without mercy.
The prices do not match the quality, not even close. You're paying for a name and a reputation that this kitchen is no longer living up to. There's nothing more frustrating than a restaurant hiding behind what it used to be while delivering food that wouldn't pass muster at a corner steam tray.
Do better or don't charge what you're charging. The legacy isn't a shield, it's a standard. And right now, you're failing it.
Not recommended.
Delicious Spanish Caribbean food. Super nice staff. No wait service but you can purchase the food and sit there to eat. Cute lil hole in the wall. 🥘🍳🍮
Food was ok I came in with the expectations of good puerto rican food and I was sadly mistaken! the food was edible and thats it. Maybe because they're making so much of it there's no love going into the food but here's the break down
I had carne guisa with white rice and a pastele
The carne guisa itself was ok but nothing to write home about the rice and beans was rice and beans lol
The sweet plantain were good but thats not hard to mess up
But the pastele! It had a good amount of meat no olives or rasin but the masa needs alot of help

I ended spending 17-18$ on that with a can soda
The best bohio in the Bronx is right here! Comida sabrosa. Authentic Puerto Rican food. Pollo guisado, tostones and sopa de pollo are the best. Super fresh and tasty food daily.
I was in the mood to eat something else, but they close so early on a Sunday. So I came across this establishment and decided to have dinner here. Oh my goodness, the food was delicious and fresh. I was served promptly and the service was friendly and professional. Am definitely returning.
Prices are extremely HIGH . so many other Latin restaurants within walking distance don’t go here . The service is also sub par a they are rude . Last but not least how is a side of beef stew in a little cup 14 $ YET A LUNCH SPECIAL OF BEEF STEW WITH RICE AND BEANS 12$ make it make sense !
The food itself is great. The service is hit or miss depending on date/time/crowdedness.

They are a bit messy with serving plates don’t always practice the best and cleanest methods of serving but if you can get past the old school mentality the food is awesome. I recommend freshly made plates over Food under heat lights. The fritura is good but not the best they have to offer. Their Morcilla is probably the best in the northeast hands down. Authenticity at its best.
I was disappointed more than a year ago by the lechon. I decided to give it another try. Once again I was disappointed. The pork was dry and unseasoned. I will not be going back for lechon. I had potato salad and it was good. I order pulpo salad for my husband. He hasn't tried it yet.
Worst experience ever
Yup that’s hair. It comes free of charge!
Won’t recommend.
Should of listened to the previous reviews. There seems to be a salt shortage at Bohio. The pork had no flavor, just dense dry pork, that seem to be overcooked by a lot. I tried to eat the skin and my teeth hurt afterwards. The pasteles were flavorless. For people who eat this style of food, you will be sadly disappointed.
First time ordering here, unfortunately The baked chicken was nasty, look at the skin. You can imagine how chewy and gamey it tasted.

Parece que no lo cocinaron completo y le hecharon achiote por encima para darle color.
We thank El Bohio restaurant and their delivery guys for sending us an excellent one, accepting our suggestion of the pork chop portion. Combo #2 and Chicharron de Cerdo. They took us there the first time we ordered, finally perfectly cooked food, congratulations to that new cook! Delicious, just the right flavor, fresh and well made food, thank you! No more salty, burnt, tasteless or half cooked food.
🥇👏🏻

They don't cook well all the time, nor are they surprising when everything is fresh and with the authentic taste of PR and RD food. It's sad that they dare to send poorly prepared food. I placed the order through Uber Eat and it didn't take more than 30 minutes to arrive. The bad thing is that the Pernil, the most desired protein, arrived cold, dry and with hard skin, the meat was white as if it were chicken. The truth is, it's not what it used to be. The food in general was very well cooked and delicious. They really are bad at making excuses about everything now. And they dare to say that one is the only one who has problems with food and no one else complains to them, yes of course!
Don’t waste your time coming here. This was my first visit, and the service was terrible. I was charged $16 for a lunch special that was advertised as $10, and to top it off, I was given the wrong order. I asked for chicken, but they gave me pork. When I went back, they gave me the chicken, but it wasn’t even a proper portion—barely any chicken with a whole bowl of rice. The staff was rude and did nothing to improve the situation.

Since I don’t speak Spanish, I felt like they purposely took advantage of that, which made the experience even worse. I would not recommend this place to anyone—paying $16 for what I got is unacceptable, and being misled about the price makes it clear that this is very bad business.
The food was horrible 😫. My wife ordered pasteles, bacalaoito, alcapuria and chicharrón de pernil. The alcapurias was okay. The bacalaoito was like something that I had never tasted. The pasteles was the worst out of all we bought. I remember how good the food used to be back in the 80's and 90's. What happened to this restaurant? The food is not good and I would never ever go back there again. This place should get new cooks!!!!
