Just say fugghedaboutit to the baked clams. They are $35 for a baker's dozen and tasteless. No lemon, no garlic, a small amount of fresh parsley. Tasted like water and breadcrumbs. Deprived me of the pleasure of sopping it up with bread.

We had a very disappointing experience at here.

When ordering, we asked our server which seafood pasta he would recommend. He suggested the pasta with mussels, clams, and seafood. Based on the way it was explained, we understood these to be components of one seafood pasta dish. At no point were we informed that each seafood item would be charged as a separate full order.

When the bill arrived, we were shocked to see that a single pasta dish cost $131 before tax. Had the pricing been clearly explained, we would have ordered differently.

What made the experience even worse was the server’s attitude afterward. When we saw the bill, we asked whether we could pay by card because we hadn’t brought enough cash, partly because we never expected the pasta to cost that much. Instead of simply answering the question, the server responded, “It’s a nice meal, you gotta pay for it!”

We were not trying to avoid paying—we were only asking about payment methods. The comment felt rude, dismissive, and completely unnecessary.

To be honest, the pasta itself was just average. If the dish had been exceptional, the price might have been easier to justify, but in our opinion it simply wasn’t worth $131. The combination of unclear pricing, mediocre food, and poor customer service left a very negative impression.

Ironically, before fully processing how inappropriate the server’s comment was, we still left 40$ tip.

I don’t mind paying for an expensive meal when the pricing is transparent, the food is outstanding, and the service is professional. Unfortunately, none of those expectations were met during our visit.
Overall, we had a pleasant dining experience and would consider returning.

The greeter was pleasant, courteous, and welcomed us with a smile, which created a great first impression. Our waiter, Lema, was very courteous, professional, and delivered a truly pleasant experience to our table. The food was overall very good, although the potatoes served were a bit dry.

One area that could use improvement is customer engagement from the waiter’s assistant. He was not rude and appeared attentive to maintaining the tables, but his interaction style felt somewhat dry and it was difficult at times to get his attention. While he was efficient with table tasks, a warmer and more customer-focused approach would enhance the overall experience.

Overall, a good experience with strong service from our main waiter and quality food, with just a few areas that could make the visit even better next time.
A relic from a better, vanished time in NYC. Hands-down, one of my favorite, go to Italian restaurants for special occasions. Large, delicious portions ... I have had so much off the menu and you can't go wrong with what you choose. Classic service and interesting people watching. One piece of advice gentlemen - do not wear a hat when you enter 😄
HEED THE WARNINGS!! Menu on a peg board on one end of room. When I asked the waiter if we could get menus , he responded, i cannot take the board off the wall and bring it to your table.Go take a picture. I should have walked out right then. Ordered seafood pasta-$36. But they Don't tell you that every additional piece of seafood is an additional thirty six dollars. So if you want shrimp and clams , that's a seventy two dollar pasta dish! But at least the food is delicious , right? WRONG!!! TERRIBLE. SAUCE WAS BITTER AND FLAVORLESS. I am second generation Italian who spent his whole life eating authentic italian food
And I will tell you that this place just phones it in at best. IF I COULD DISSUADE AND SAVE ONE CUSTOMER FROM WASTING THEIR MONEY ON THIS OVERRATED.CASH TRAP, ILL BE A HAPPY GUY!
The atmosphere at Don Peppe is unbeatable—it has that classic, old-school vibe that makes for a great night out. The food was very good and definitely hit the spot. However, the service was a bit lacking and felt a little slow/inattentive compared to the rest of the experience. Overall, a solid spot if you aren't in a rush!
A lovely, warm family restaurant.
The food is always fantastic, the service is excellent, and the attention to detail is impressive — especially the clean, hot plates for every dish.
The atmosphere feels cozy and relaxed, and the house red wine is light and smooth, almost like juice.

A place we truly enjoy coming back to. 🥇🏆🏇🏼🏇🏼🏇🏼🏇🏼🏇🏼🏇🏼🏇🏼🏇🏼🏇🏼🏇🏼
Worth the hype. Just exceptional family style Italian American food. We got the rigatoni with sausage and broccoli rabe, veal don peppe, stuffed artichoke, tiramisu, and cannoli. 10 out of 10. Everything was perfectly cooked and fresh. The portions are enormous. Make the trip.
I was on business in Queens and someone recommended that we should go there. When we arrived it looked like it was closed, but it was open. A great family owned Italian (Napoli) restaurant since 1968!
No menu, the items are listed in the wall in the back. Our waiter from Albania (worked there for 10 years, as great). He recommended baked clams (excellent) and stuffed mushrooms (really good). We ordered Veal Marsala and Veal Parmgiana - both fantastic. No hard liquor available, but good Italian Wine.
I had a Tartufo (Italian Coffee like rocket fuel).
Overall a great place for families with large portions. We enjoyed it.
This is a late review, but I celebrated my birthday here and it was absolutely worth sharing. Everything was excellent from start to finish. The baked clams were beyond amazing—hands down the best baked clams I’ve ever had.

The food overall was delicious, the portions were very generous (one serving can easily be shared by two to three people), and everything tasted fresh and well prepared. The wine selection was also great and paired perfectly with our meal.

The atmosphere was welcoming and perfect for celebrating with family and friends. If you’re looking for a place with great food, large portions, and a wonderful dining experience, this is definitely the spot. Highly recommend!
A friend from work who lived in the area wanted to thank me for helping him out & took me here for dinner. (7pm on a Friday in July) I was able to find a parking space around the corner but could tell parking could be difficult in the area. This place must get pretty busy, they had a bunch of benches outside in a covered space for those waiting for a table. Luckily there was no wait when we arrived & were shown to a table immediately. The restaurant has jockey jackets & pictures of race horses everywhere. I guess because it’s close to a race track. We had the mozzarella and roasted peppers with tomato & baked clams as an appetizer. Then spaghetti with bolognese sauce and chicken parmigiana for the main. The waiter was very polite and professional. The food was pretty pretty good as well. The bill came to $165 including a bottle of house red. ($200 with tip) Not the a bad place to have dinner if your in the area.
Hidden gem, everything on this menu is amazing, the clams and linguini to die for. The calamari was excellent, the rigatoni was insane. Chicken was really good too. You cannot go wrong with ordering anything from them. Only issue is cash only but totally worth it!
This is a must try or revisit. The food quality never fails in my opinion. The servers are very helpful in selecting quantity, as this is a family style restaurant. Cash only, no reservations. Table service is excellent, they will portion out and serve each person. Pictured: Sausage and Rigatoni, Salad Don Peppe, Chicken Parmigiana, Stuffed Shells, Bruschetta Chicken, Baked Clams and Tiramisu. "House" red or white wine is served along with a small selection of beers.
Been dining here since the early 80s. And it’s still special. One big room, many personable servers. No cocktails. Wine choices: red or white. And the bottle arrive with no cork and no label. But delicious. Baked clams are the best I have ever tasted. Always. We had planned on ordering salad and pasta, but the server said we were making a mistake. The fillet of sole was a rare ‘special,’ and the Portobello mushrooms were delicious. That we could have pasta anytime. And because he made sense we ordered the fillet of sole and mushrooms and they were, indeed, delicious. Cash only. Noisy room. Happy people. Accessible ♿️. You don’t know what you’re missing.
Food was pretty good, but by any means not amazing enough for our trouble or travel and money spent there. We came here from Brooklyn, the second we walked in the whole atmosphere and establishment, every 6 of our party can feel and tell how unwelcoming and off it is. We were always so kind and polite too. We waited sooo long in between our courses to come, for the pasta to come after the appetizer, then our fried veal don peppe took sooo long too after we quickly finished our plates of linguine clams. All that, after receiving such poor slow service we got rushed out after. We weren’t even the last groups to leave to leave either. Every one of us agreed that we haven’t felt such a micro aggression racism in a while. It’s a very old school Italian joint. I definitely would not ever be coming back.
