We couldn’t get a reservation this time, so we arrived about 40 minutes before opening to be first in line. We were seared at the bar, which worked out perfectly. Tried the lemon steak for the first time and absolutely loved it. The lasagna was as incredible as ever. We skipped the chrysanthemum salad and ordered the sweet potatoes instead—definitely worth it. Everything was fantastic.

Dined solo at the bar in January 2026. Had the Nonna’s Little Nip as the non alcoholic version – truly a delicious zero proof cocktail. Very pleased they had several thoughtful n/a options. I ordered the chrysanthemum salad (garlicky, fantastic) and lasagna for two (decadent, worthy of the hype). Took home half to my husband, who also loved it.
This is hands down one of the hardest reservations to get in the city, which is probably its biggest downside. That being said, the food lives up to the hype.
We started with the sesame and parmesan salad and the flatbread. Both were very good, but the lasagna was without a doubt the star of the show. It is incredibly rich, comforting, and huge—definitely big enough for two people to share.
Keep in mind the space is small and the noise level is pretty high. But if you manage to snag a reservation, that lasagna makes it all worth it!
Food was pretty good. The lasagna was definitely the star of the show. It had a nice, baked, chewy texture and was full of sauce and meat. We also tried the tender-stem broccoli, the meatballs, and the veal. The broccoli was zesty and came with a nice crunchy topping, and while the meatballs were good, they were nothing to write home about. As for the dessert, get the tiramisu and skip the rest. The mochi was a little confusing and nothing really that special. The tiramisu is not a conventional tiramisu. It does gave marscapone, but the base is a chocolate cake and the middle of the dessert is filled with some sweet, flaky crunch.
I always wanted to visit Don Angie since five years ago but was never able to get a reservation to fit in my schedule every time when I was in the city (over 100 times). This restaurant was probably the #1 hardest to get a reservation in the city. On the past Sunday, I decided to “walk in” and tried my luck, and guess what? I was so fortunate to have a seat at the bar!!

I asked the waitress what should I try if I can only visit Don Angie once in my lifetime, she suggested the famous chrysanthemum salad as the appetizer and lasagna for the lunch. The chrysanthemum salad was out of the world. Snowy shredded parmesan cheese on top of the fresh chrysanthemum greens well blended with “in-house vinaigrette dressing” was bright, balancing savory and delicious. The pinwheel lasagna was phenomenal. It has very delicate and thin pasta sheet, simmered meet and minimum tomato sauce, and rich, creamy and white béchamel sauce. The portion size is for two or three servings. It is the best lasagna I’ve ever had.
Don Angie is worth the hype and every penny you spent. I would definitely return to try other dishes and highly recommend to everyone visits NYC!!
Been looking forward to coming to Don Angie for a long time. My fav items were the BBQ Calamari, Sourdough Pasta and Tiramisu. The lasagna was okay but the other pasta dishes are better. Our waiter was super funny and helpful in recommending items to have.
If I were a food critic, I’d give it like 10 Michelin stars hahaha
No joke, no exaggeration: it’s the best lasagna me and my husband have ever had in our lives!

My husband is Italian and super picky with pasta and he was literally shocked, impressed, in love, emotional over the meatballs in the dish called garganelli giganti!! If he really loves a pasta, it means it’s actually top-tier

I really hope we can go back many times. It’s hard to get a table but when you do, it’s worth every dollar, every minute and eating EVERYTHING hahaha

Our waitress: I don’t remember her name, was so sweet and amazing, it honestly made me wanna pull up a chair and just chat with her because she was that nice!!!

Two things you HAVE to try there: the lasagna and the tiramisu. It’s different, crunchy, super flavorful, and not overly sweet, it’s the kind of dessert that just makes you want more and more!!!

Definitely, Don Angie is our favorite restaurant on the list!
This place was truly exceptional, and I felt genuinely grateful to have been able to secure a reservation. From the moment I arrived, the staff made the experience feel effortless and welcoming. They were warm, attentive, and clearly committed to making sure every detail was just right, which set the tone for an unforgettable meal.

The food was on another level. The Japanese Sweet Potatoes and Buffalo Milk Carmelle were unlike anything I’ve ever tasted—bold, memorable, and absolutely masterful in execution. They weren’t just great dishes; they were the kind of standout flavors that stay with you long after the meal is over. The lasagna pinwheels were another highlight and completely lived up to the hype. Rich, flavorful, and beautifully prepared, they were a must-try in every sense. Even the bread served alongside was outstanding—soft, fresh, and finished with the perfect subtle crunch.

What I appreciated most was the feeling that every part of the experience had been thoughtfully designed. It wasn’t just a dinner; it was a complete experience that felt polished, personal, and deeply satisfying. I left feeling cared for, impressed, and fully content. This is the kind of restaurant you remember, recommend, and eagerly return to.
One of the best pasta dishes I’ve had. Everything else just supports it.

The Buffalo Milk Caramelle is a uniquely exquisite pasta. Perfectly al dente with a rich and creamy filling, balanced by candied kumquat and fresh basil that keeps it bright. It leans sweet but has notes of savory. Small portion, but I would easily order two for myself.

The Japanese sweet potatoes deliver on texture with a crispy exterior and soft inside, but the parmesan overpowers and takes away from the natural sweetness.

The Shell Steak al Limone is cooked well and built for sharing. The lemon flavor is strong but smooth without being overly sharp. It is flavorful but a bit lean and not as memorable as the pasta.

Reservations are tough and the space stays busy, but bar seating is manageable with a short wait.

Verdict: Go for the pasta. Build the meal around it.

Caramelle: 9.3
Sweet Potatoes: 7.6
Steak: 7.4
Overall: 8.8
First time at Don Angie and it did not disappoint. We arrived early and had a short wait, but Kahrin, the maître d’, was incredibly warm and accommodating, getting us set up to come back later. We grabbed a drink at San Sabino and returned for an amazing experience at the bar with Mateo, who gave great recommendations don’t miss the stuffed garlic bread, Caesar salad, and the lasagna. Everything was delicious, including the cocktails (loved the Il Colombo). We ended with the black cocoa tiramisu, which was the perfect finish. The team was fantastic all around. Can’t wait to come back!
We had a great experience at Don Angie. Despite not having a reservation, the host managed to squeeze us in for early dinner. The service was on point, and we didn’t feel rushed at all even though we had 1.5 hour time limit. We still managed to enjoy dessert after trying plenty of dishes.
Our server Tonya took the time to explain each dish and gave us recommendations on how to pair them. Every dish had rich and unexpected flavors—very unique and memorable. The lemon steak was especially delicious!
We scored a reservation for 4:15pm for a part of 4. We arrived on time and were seated pretty promptly. Where we were seated initially was pretty cramped and we realized fairly quickly it just wasn’t going to be comfortable for us. When we asked if a larger table that wasn’t so close to neighboring tables might be available we were quickly and graciously accommodated without hesitation. We ordered stuffed flatbread, chrysanthemum salad, buffalo milk caramelle, calamari fried rice, sourdough pasta cacciatore, steak limone, and the ravioli for the table to share for dinner. Our party also shared the tiramisu and pear sorbet for dessert. Everything we ate was a home run, not one bite missed, not even a little. Also worth mentioning, every dish was measurably different from the next, Don Angie plays many notes on our palates it seems. The atmosphere is upscale but not uptight.
Decent vegetarian options for appetizers / pasta. Was able to grab a seat at the bar when they opened with no res. Cocktails and everything we ordered was very delicious, and fairly quick service. Very nice atmosphere, didn’t feel too crowded / loud despite restaurant being almost at full capacity. Would definitely come back to try more dishes here (:
Second visit and just as incredible as the first. We had the lasagna and chrysanthemum salad again—both flawless and absolutely worth the hype. The lasagna continues to be a standout.

This time we also tried the scallop crudo and the sourdough pasta cacciatore. Every dish was excellent. The pasta had beautifully balanced flavors with subtle olive brine and perfectly seasoned chicken. The scallop crudo was fresh and delicious, though the portion was small and left us wanting more.

We enjoyed a great bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon and finished with the black cocoa tiramisu, which was the perfect ending. Overall, a 10/10 experience and a restaurant that truly lives up to its reputation.
Was able to walk in to Don Angie on the Fourth of July - knowing it was a holiday weekend when people would be gone and most folks who stayed would be on the other side of Manhattan watching the fireworks 😏 We had to wait a bit for the table, but it was worth it.
We sat outside on the side under some scaffolding, the only reason the atmosphere is docked a star, but we didn’t mind too much. The waitstaff was friendly, attentive, and recommended a bar for us to go afterward.
I got the Margherita drink, quite tasty and refreshing in the heat. We shared the Chrysanthemum salad to start - it was good, but nothing special imo, so probably wouldn’t order it again. Then came the lasagna 😍 which was simply spectacular! Would come back for the lasagna alone, but also looking forward to trying their other apps and desserts.
