Din Tai Fung is the best. Every dish we ordered was incredible, and the attention to detail in both the flavors and presentation really stood out.

The soup dumplings were 10/10 — with delicate wrappers filled with rich, savory broth and perfectly seasoned pork and shrimp that burst with flavor in every bite.

The chili oil wontons were plump and perfectly chewy, coated in a sauce with incredible depth and the perfect balance of spice, sweetness, and sesame. The sweet and sour ribs were tender and flavorful with a delicious glaze, while the black pepper steak was cooked perfectly and packed with rich, savory flavor without feeling too heavy.

If you’re looking for great dumplings, noodles, or Taiwanese cuisine in general, Din Tai Fung is absolutely worth the visit. Definitely a spot I’d gladly come back to whenever I’m in a city that has one. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I had no idea what this was but my friends insisted we try it and wow! I love pork and I love rice the so pork and rice dish was heaven for me and it truly was so of the best pork I’ve ever had. Server was great, the vibes/energy were also great. Such a cool place being underground and the ability to watch in the kitchen is really a nice touch.

We ordered the Crab & Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao, Black Pepper Beef Tenderloin, Shrimp Fried Noodles, Pear Lychee Martini, Chocolate & Mochi Xiao Long Bao, and the Chocolate Bun, and everything was delicious.

My favorite dishes were the Black Pepper Beef Tenderloin and the Shrimp Fried Noodles. Both had amazing flavor and were cooked perfectly. The Xiao Long Bao was also good, but I wish the dumplings were bigger and had more soup inside.

The atmosphere and decor were beautiful and really elevated the experience. The restaurant had a great ambiance. The Pear Lychee Martini was refreshing, and the desserts were great.

For the price and waiting time from the comments(fortunately I arrived early so no wait), the food was below my expectations. I am a big soup dumpling fan, but their soup dumplings are not very soupy, the wrap was dry and not very chewy, and stuffing was very grounded that the meat just lost their texture. The Cod steam dumplings were very fishy 腥 instead of tasty 鮮. We ordered three appetizers, not very impressive. Chinese appetizers have layers of flavors from rich combination of sauces. Appetizers here are very single note.

The service was overall very professional and attentive. Only one glitch… we were at first greeted by server 1, then the order was taken by server 2, then server 1 came back trying to take order again… then server 2 who took our order never placed the drink order… we didn’t know until server 3 showed up and found out the drink order wasn’t recorded. Dishes were served slowly. It’s a big restaurant and has a lot of customers. It happens.

Atmosphere was the best part. I also enjoyed watching the kitchen crew making dumpling folds. It was an amazing process and team work!

My daughter planned a beautiful family dinner at this amazing place, and what an experience it turned out to be! Located right at Times Square, the restaurant is massive and can accommodate more than 550 guests at a time — yet the waiting list still goes beyond 3 hours. But honestly, once you dine here, every minute of the wait feels worth it.

As vegetarians, we absolutely enjoyed each and every dish. The true stars of the evening were the Shaved Snow with Fresh Mango and the Chocolate Mochi with Sea Salt Cream — simply unforgettable and the perfect ending to a wonderful meal.

What truly elevated the experience was the impeccable service. Emmey was full of energy, warmth, style, and the most welcoming smile. She patiently guided us through the menu and helped us choose the best dishes for our family. Service like this makes dining memorable.

Food: 5 🌟
Service: 5 🌟

The pricing feels completely justified for the quality, hospitality, and overall fine dining experience. A place where you happily leave with gratitude and beautiful memories.

I had a really good experience at the NYC location of Din Tai Fung . We had a reservation and when we walked in there were a lot of people waiting, but we were still sat in a timely manner . The atmosphere was very nice as well . The food was all delicious as well . We got the Sweet and Sour Pork Baby Back Ribs , Chicken Fried Rice, String Beans with Garlic, Chicken Spicy Wontons & Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao. Everything was very very good and with drinks our bill was a little over $100. For the portion size and the everything else this was a very good price . I would definitely come back.

This Din Tai Fung is better than the one I had in Taipei under the Daan’s mall. The soup dumplings are delicious and full of flavor and juices. The pork chop fried rice is definitely a must have. The Taiwanese cabbage is also delicious and not salty at all. Walk-in wait time is reasonable (for us 45 minutes in the Bar seats). The service is impeccable and impressive. We really enjoyed the food and the dining experience. Highly recommended.

Beautiful settings and amazing staff that man the restaurant - there was a 45 min wait before we got our table.

We had String Beans w/ Garlic - 3.5* - Needed more time on the pan for me - I am okay compromising the crispness for the taste from being in the wok for some time.

Chicken Spicy Wontons - 4* - Decent. The Spicy Soup is definitely the highlight of the dish.

Chocolate Mochi - 4.5* - best thing on the table for me that day - The Chocolate oooozes in my mouth - Great Chocolate too. I wish the Dipping sauce was liquid chocolate too as the Chocolate quickly dissolves and the chewy rice remains - Liq. Chocolate would have helped make that part of the experience great too.

We had some noodles too - they were.. okay.

But will have to come back for their Soup Dumplings and Sesame Noodles!

Din Tai Fung NY delivers an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. As the only East Coast location, it truly lives up to the hype. The soup dumplings are perfectly crafted—delicate, flavorful, and worth every bite. Service is efficient and attentive, and the atmosphere feels both lively and polished. It can get busy, but the quality of the food makes it absolutely worth the wait. A must-visit spot for dumpling lovers!

I recently visited Din Tai Fung with my family, and it was such a delightful experience from start to finish! The restaurant has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for a family outing or a casual meal with friends. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, guiding us through the menu and making sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit.

The food was absolutely phenomenal. We tried a variety of dishes, including the famous xiao long bao, which were perfectly steamed and packed with flavor, and the hand-pulled noodles, which had the perfect texture and seasoning. Every dish was fresh, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care.

One thing we really appreciated was the pace of service — everything came out at just the right time, so we could enjoy each course without feeling rushed. The portions were generous, and the flavors were consistently impressive across all the dishes we ordered.

Overall, it was a fantastic experience that our whole family enjoyed. From the delicious food to the welcoming service and cozy atmosphere, Din Tai Fung exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic, high-quality Taiwanese cuisine in a family-friendly environment. We can’t wait to come back and try even more of their menu!

Can confirm it was as good as everyone says. We did wait for quite a long time in the online line, but were able to walk around during that time. When we were seated, however, the service was fast and the waiters were very helpful.
The cucumber salad was good but definitely overpriced for how much there was.The both the pork and pork and crab xiao long bao were exceptional, with a thin wrapper and lots of juice inside. The crab added a nice depth but not too overwhelming.
We also got the beef noodle soup which had good flavor and big chunks of meat, however they were quite fatty. The spicy noodles were also good, along with the chicken wontons. They both had a similar sweetish spicy sauce which wasn’t overly hot.
Our favorite was definitely the chocolate xiao long bao - they had a satisfyingly chewy texture and the molten chocolate was the perfect sweetness. The sea salt foam added that extra hit of flavor to them. We could have easily finished two orders of this.
Overall, it was a little pricey, but the food is filling, even though the dishes are small. They all had a good amount of meat. Maybe not the absolute best Chinese food in nyc, but worth a try for a decent meal.

Not gonna lie, this might be my favorite Din Tai Fung, and I’ve been to several, including the original one in Taiwan.

The xiao long bao were delicate and perfectly pleated, the noodles had great texture and balance, and everything felt thoughtfully prepared. You can really tell the attention to detail in every dish.

One of the servers recommended the chocolate xiao long bao for dessert, and they were outstanding, even the neighboring table noticed and asked about them.

Service was friendly, efficient, and calm despite being busy. An exceptional experience overall and a standout Din Tai Fung location.

5/5 Experience and I’ll be back the next time I’m in NYC! This is a vital restaurant and it has every right to be.

Cons:
- Not really a con but this restaurant is probably one of the most popular in NyC at the moment. Therefore it is a wait! We signed up for the waitlist via yelp and needed up waiting about 45 mins past the projected range. No biggie as we expected such but if you’re in a rush and do not have a reservation and are using the waitlist you may need to allow for wiggle room.

Pros:
- Yelp Waitlist
- Location is super convenient
- Spacious, plenty of room to sit and wait for your table. The tables are also spread out and it allows for the ambiance to be sexy, inviting, and private.
- Service! With some viral establishments they miss the mark with service but not Din Tai Fung! Everyone that you encounter is warm, helpful, and knowledgeable. Kudos to this establishment for ensuing their staff is trained and top tier!
- FOOD!!! Oh I still dream about our meal. Literally everything was 5/5! I’m GF and they had several delicious options that I was able to try!
— We had the Shrimp Fried Rice, Pork Chop Fried Rice, Garlic Green Beans. This is literally some of the best Asian food I’ve had in years! I still dream about the first bite!!! It was so flavorful, not salty, clean and very much to the point. Our entire meal was delicious and the portions were large so we had enough to take to our hotel for a late night snack!!!
- Drinks: Super tasty! I had the lychee mojito and my boyfriend just had tequila and soda! Delish!

5/5 experience and if you’re able to get a spot here I highly encourage it! You will remember this meal and experience for all of the right reasons!!!

We went on a Sunday night so naturally it was quite busy and we needed to make a reservation ahead of time. The wait was about an hour, but that goes by quickly if you explore the area. The restaurant was underground and had a beautiful dark luxurious interior with low dim lighting. We ordered the cucumber salad as an appetizer which I did not have a picture of, but it was made peanut sauce which was very refreshing and was a good dish to start with before the main course. We got the sautéed bok choy which did not have much spice to it, but it had a rich buttery taste and was steamed perfectly while still retaining its crunchiness. We also got the vegetarian bun which was delightful but my favorite was the chicken dumplings which had a soup base inside along with the peanut noodles! If you love peanut butter and noodles this will be a treat. We also got the red bean, chocolate, and taro dessert dumplings which were my favorite because I have a sweet tooth. HIGHLY recommend the chocolate dumplings with the salty sweet cream, it was a perfect and delicious flavor combination. Everything we ordered came out to be around 170 dollars with tips, we also did order a lot more than two people would probably order but we decided to splurge this day. If you prefer to try alot of different dishes and not feel too full, and still have a good dining experience, this place is definitely worth trying.

we had a reservation and was seated immediately, the interior is amazing, it’s like an underground nyc bar type of look. you can see the chefs rolling the dough through a glass window. we ordered and the food came out within 10 min!!! for drinks we got the lychee lemonade and the sea salt cream iced tea. 9/10 for both!! we ordered the pork xio long boa, chicken steamed dumplings, spicy noodles, sesame noodles, spicy wontons and it came out SO fast!!! there were 6 of us, and after we ordered the chocolate dumplings which is a MUST!!! we got it with the sea salt foam, which tasted like salted caramel!! the sesame noodles were a little overhyped but everything else was really good!!! 9/10 recommend!! oh also for price??? amazing!! the bill was around 220 for all 6 of us and we got 12 entres!!
