We had an amazing experience here for my 40th birthday. This definitely lived up to the hype - the Delmonico’s ribeye was unreal, perfectly cooked with plenty of flavor and a nice dry-aging. The creamed spinach was the perfect side for it as well. The lemon caviar pasta was a real hit with the group, and the signature baked Alaska is delicious, with an amazing presentation. Overall this is just such a great experience - from the staff to the food, it’s excellent. Yes, it’s expensive and maybe you have to save this for a special occasion, but that’s part of the charm I guess.

Response from the owner

Blake, we’re so glad you chose Delmonico’s for your 40th birthday and that it lived up to the hype. It’s great to hear you loved the dry-aged ribeye, creamed spinach, lemon caviar pasta, and that the baked Alaska presentation hit the mark. We really appreciate the kind words about the staff and the whole experience.

Our server Eloy made this whole experience the most delightful meal… everyone from the hostess to the assistant servers and the cooks. Thank you for an absolutely perfect and amazing meal.. hands down the best service and the best service.<br><br>The steaks are perfect, try the Delmonico potatoes and the carrots…<br><br>The other server which I forgot his name from Croatia was very nice. Their staff here is amazing.

Response from the owner

Martin, I really appreciate you taking the time to share this—Eloy and the whole team will be so happy to hear it. I’m glad you loved the steaks and that the Delmonico potatoes and carrots hit the spot, and we’ll make sure our Croatian teammate hears your kind words too.

Been there twice!<br><br>Today I rate it 5. It was lunch time on Thursday, place was empty, quiet and service was 5*. Was so happy to see Yaroslav today! ❤️ He is the best waiter in town! Last time I saw him in 2022 in other place.<br><br>Mashed potatoes and sautéed mushrooms are fire! Steaks were perfectly cooked today.<br>Baked Alaska was wonderful too.<br><br>BUT! First time it was Wednesday evening and whole experience was ruined: overcrowded, extremely noisy so you can’t hear your friend sitting in front if you, poor service. And what was shocking steaks were cooked wrongly. Mine was medium well instead of medium rare, and my friends was BLUE instead of medium well!!! We were shocked. This is the legendary steakhouse for the gods sake!!!<br><br>GO THERE FOR LUNCH ONLY FOR THE BEST EXPERIENCE! Kitchen and stuff cannot maintain quality under pressure.

Response from the owner

Yury, I really appreciate you coming in twice and sharing such detailed feedback—I'm glad your Thursday lunch was quiet, the service felt spot-on, and that you enjoyed the mashed potatoes, sautéed mushrooms, perfectly cooked steaks, and the Baked Alaska. It also means a lot to hear your kind words about Yaroslav. I’m sorry your earlier dinner visit was overcrowded, noisy, and that the steaks weren’t cooked to order; that’s not the experience we want anyone to have, and we’re taking it seriously.

One of the best dinning experiences!<br>Everything was perfect, since the greeting at the door, the coat check, the service at the table, including the sommelier.<br>The food was amazing, (not the risotto) one of the best beef tartare and the steak was done to perfection.<br>Probably the best steak ever!

Response from the owner

Mundi, I really appreciate you sharing this—so glad the welcome at the door, coat check, table service, and our sommelier all helped make it such a great night. It means a lot to hear you loved the beef tartare and that your steak was cooked to perfection, and thanks for the note on the risotto too.

Absolute NYC icon. The steak was perfectly cooked (medium rare): we each had the Signature Delmonico Ribeye, a very generous 18oz portion.<br>We paired it with asparagus, garlic-heavy creamed spinach, and the standout Delmonico potatoes, which were exceptional.<br>Staff were highly professional and friendly, and service was extremely fast, almost too fast for my taste.<br>Overall, a special experience and an easy five stars, even if it may not quite reach the very top tier of steakhouses nationally.

Response from the owner

Vincent, we really appreciate the kind words and are glad you enjoyed the Signature Delmonico Ribeye along with the asparagus, creamed spinach, and especially our Delmonico potatoes. It means a lot to hear the team was professional and friendly, and thanks for the note on the pace of service—we’ll keep that in mind so the experience feels just right.

We checked this place out for dinner recently and really enjoyed it. The building is really cool, with a lot of history. Definitely worth reading up on, especially all of the dishes that allegedly started at Delmonico’s. We had a cozy little two-top table in a smaller dining past the main bar. Our server was friendly but overall, our service was pretty slow. We both enjoyed our glasses of wine and the yellowtail crudo appetizer. The complimentary sourdough and corn bread had good flavor, especially with the butter with Hawaiian salt. My wife ordered the 10oz filet and I ordered the 12oz Delmonico eye. Both were cooked perfectly. The Delmonico potatoes were excellent. It took a little while to get the check, so while we waited for it, my wife went to the coat check to get our coats. As I was getting up to leave, the server brought us a scoop of ice cream with a chocolate that read “Happy Anniversary.” That was a nice touch even though we were already leaving. We would definitely check this place out again to try more menu items.

Response from the owner

Jimmy, I’m glad you enjoyed the historic space and had a cozy table, and it’s great to hear the wine, yellowtail crudo, steaks, and Delmonico potatoes all hit the mark. I’m sorry the service felt slow and that getting the check took too long, but I’m happy the anniversary ice cream added a nice little moment at the end. We’d love to have you back to try more of the menu.

Celebrated 30 year anniversary at Delmonico’s! Aged Bone in Ribeye done to perfection, tender like cutting butter! Desert came out with an edible chocolate “Happy Anniversary” card and 24 karat gold topped chocolate honeycomb. Water never dropped below 1/2 cup, all staff welcomed us as family! Delmonico’s potatoes were amazing, bread and grilled asparagus perfect! 6 decades of eating shrimp cocktail, the Jumbo Prawns were the best I’ve ever had! Thank you Delmonico’s. New tradition in NYC!

Response from the owner

Brian, congratulations on your 30-year anniversary, and thanks for choosing to celebrate it with us at Delmonico’s. I’m so glad the bone-in ribeye, Delmonico’s potatoes, bread and asparagus, and those jumbo prawns all hit the mark—and that the anniversary dessert and attentive service made you feel like family. It means a lot to hear we’ve become a new tradition for you in NYC.

This legendary restaurant had been on our radar ever since we first started planning our next visit to NYC. So much history and so many expectations. We weren't disappointed and had a wonderful evening. Everything was delicious. Perhaps the only exception was the crab cake, which was a bit too heavy for us, but the biggest surprise was the royal eggs Benedict, which were truly wonderful. The Signature Delmonico ribeye, lobster Newberg, and the sides and famous Baked Alaska were all delicious. The service was top-notch. We'll definitely be back!

Response from the owner

Aleksander, I’m so glad Delmonico’s lived up to the history and your expectations and that you had a wonderful evening with us. It’s great to hear you loved the royal eggs Benedict, our Signature Delmonico ribeye, lobster Newberg, the sides, and the Baked Alaska—and I appreciate the note about the crab cake feeling a bit heavy. We can’t wait to welcome you back.

We chose Delmonico’s for Valentine’s Day after hearing so many great things about this historic NYC steakhouse and were really excited to finally try it.<br><br>The service was exemplary — attentive, professional, and easily the highlight of the night. The staff truly made us feel taken care of and set a great tone for the evening.<br><br>Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to the reputation. The prix fixe menu featured their classics, but the execution was inconsistent. The Eye of Delmonico came out undercooked while the filet was overcooked, which was disappointing for a steakhouse known for its steaks. The Baked Alaska (wasn't baked) also lacked the classic tableside flair or flambé presentation I expected.<br><br>We were seated downstairs where the walls appeared to have signatures from famous guests, but it turned out to be printed wallpaper, which made the space feel less authentic than anticipated.<br><br>What made it tougher to overlook was the price. The Valentine’s prix fixe came out to over $500, and based on the normal menu, the same meal likely would’ve cost closer to half that. For that premium, we expected everything to be spot-on.<br><br>Overall, great service and a nice atmosphere, but the food and value didn’t match the restaurant’s legacy and just left me disappointed. Hoping it was just an off night.

Response from the owner

Hi Andrew, thanks for sharing your experience. I'm glad to hear our team delivered such attentive service and set a welcoming tone for your special night. I'm sorry the food and ambiance didn't meet your expectations, particularly with the execution of the steaks and the atmosphere. Your feedback is really important, and I appreciate you giving us a chance on such a memorable occasion.

I had my steak improperly cooked three times. The first time it was completely raw and had it sent back. You then recooked the same piece to give back to me. To bring the same food back into the kitchen that I already touched is a health code violation as well. Not to mention, even if it weren’t, I already cut into the steak. For you to then recook it, it would be dry and lose all juices, and I paid for a juicy steak.<br><br>I then had to wait for my steak a third time, where it was still rare, but not raw. I did not feel like waiting once again so I just ate it at that point.<br><br>It was only until I had my steak cooked wrong for the THIRD TIME that I received any sort of apology from any of the staff.<br><br>The food here and the service is terrible. I especially expected otherwise from the oldest steakhouse in New York City. To for example, understand health code violations, and basic customer service. Or how to cook a steak.

Response from the owner

I'm really sorry to hear about your experience, Anna. It sounds like we dropped the ball on both the cooking and communication, and I understand how frustrating that must have been. Your feedback is important, and we'll definitely review our procedures to ensure our standards are consistently met.

I was really looking forward to try out this restaurant as it has great history and have heard wonderful things about it. We had reserved a table weeks in advance but upon arrival we were informed there would be about a 20 minute wait time. We didn't mind the wait, left our coats and waited at the entrance although there wasn't much seating. Once we sat down at our table the wait time for the food was about 15-20 minutes between courses. Over all the experience was very elegant, high end and welcoming. Once we received the check we payed and decided to pay the waiters individually in cash. While gathering our things we were stopped by the waitress and she requested we give her the tip, we explained our intentions were not to leave without giving a tip rather we wanted to give it personally to the waiters who atteneded us. She continued to ask we give her the tip and waited there until I gave her the full amount listed. I understand this is a more high end restaurant but I didnt like the way I was treated in that moment, it was quite unpleasant to say the least . Over all the experience was nice.

Response from the owner

Hi there! Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the elegance and welcoming atmosphere of Delmonico's, and I'm sorry about the hiccup with the tip process—I completely understand your perspective. Your feedback helps us improve, and we hope to make your next visit even better!

Was a great deal first time they they did restaurant week, alas no longer. The menu's essentially the same with the lack of a smaller Delmonico cut and higher supplement cost for regular menu steak. The history, ambiance is still there after the renovation.<br><br>We were seated by my estimate literally the farthest table from the entrance. The apps were great, good bread room tenp butter, thick cut bacon and exquisite crab cake enclosed in a lattice. The steaks come out cooked to perfection, most of the table weren't able to finish the regular Delmonico's eye. Finally a tableside flambe baked Alaska capped off the meal.<br><br>Service was a bit slow, partly due to how packed it wqs, and our table location. And a bit surprising there is a discount for cash payment

Response from the owner

It's great to hear you enjoyed the ambiance and history we preserved after the renovation, Jia. Sounds like our appetizers and steaks hit the mark, though I understand the service was slower with us being busy. We appreciate your feedback and are always looking to improve the dining experience!

We reserved four months ahead. Everything was surreal. The ambiance, the food, the service and the experience. Ribeye is to die for. Will surely go back. Reserve the experience for a very special occasion. Definitely not cheap but is surely worthwhile.

Response from the owner

Wow, Joana, it sounds like you had a fantastic experience at Delmonico's! We're so glad to hear you enjoyed the ribeye and appreciated the ambiance and service. Thank you for choosing us for such a special occasion.

Came here during the holidays to see some old friends. Great food, great ambiance and solid service. It was the holidays so it was definitely busy so there was a some delay, no biggie at all. The only thing that was a little off was the wine service.<br><br>We’re not super knowledgeable, we asked for a $100-$200 bottle of red that was dry and would go well with the steaks. This kind of opened a pandora’s box of what type of dry notes, what region, the rain and weather in those regions, it took longer to pick a bottle of wine than it took to order all other drinks, entrees, appetizers and desserts. She made it very clear how unknowledgeable we were, which was why we asked for a recommendation, our main waiter made everything else very smooth.<br><br>Overall great experience with delicious food. We loved the seafood tower(lobster tail and claws for all 5 people), better steaks than other high end places we’ve been to, all sides were great besides the potato(I think it was hash browns?) it was so dry and kind of stale, everything was still great, we don’t expect a grand slam every time, few home-runs are more than enough, best part of the experience is being with best friends anyway.

Response from the owner

Hi there! I'm glad to hear you had a great get-together at Delmonico's! It means a lot to us that you loved the seafood tower with lobster and our steaks. Your feedback about the wine service and the hash browns is invaluable; I’ll be sure they’re noted. Thanks for choosing us for your reunion, and we hope to see you again soon!

First time at this storied steakhouse and wow—what an experience. I love a good steak, and this was honestly among the best I’ve ever had. Great atmosphere and pleasant, attentive service throughout the night. We both ordered the dry-aged bone-in ribeye, and it was incredible—deeply flavorful with that funky dry-aged character and cooked just right. For sides, we went with the pomme purée and asparagus, and both were top notch and exactly what you want alongside a great steak. We finished with their legendary baked Alaska, and it absolutely lived up to its reputation. One of the best I’ve had. It was a pricey evening, no doubt, but completely worth it. I’ll definitely be back.

Response from the owner

Wow, it sounds like you had an amazing night at Delmonico's! I'm really glad you enjoyed the dry-aged bone-in ribeye and had a great time with our baked Alaska finale. Your feedback on the atmosphere and service truly makes all the effort worth it. Looking forward to welcoming you back soon!
