Coppelia is easily one of the best diners in New York City. The fact that it is open 24/7 and consistently serves up incredible Cuban and Latin comfort food makes it an absolute standout, especially in a city where late-night dining options have dwindled.
The food is genuinely great whether you are grabbing a Cubano, their famous Lomo Saltado, or just breakfast at an odd hour, the quality never dips. It does get very busy, especially late at night, and you might find yourself waiting at the door. Do not let that deter you; it is 100% worth the wait.
If you want fantastic food with a great energetic vibe at literally any hour of the day or night, this is the spot.

The Rundown:
Pros: Open 24/7, incredible Latin/Cuban diner menu, great atmosphere.

Cons: Can get very busy late at night with a wait at the door.

Highly recommended!

I used to love coming here and have visited many times over the years. Unfortunately, my last few experiences have been disappointing. The biggest issue has been with security. Not only have I felt singled out at times, but several of my guests have also felt unnecessarily harassed or profiled. On one occasion, security even compared me to other guests in a way that felt inappropriate and unprofessional.

The service can be very hit or miss depending on who is taking care of you. The bartenders, however, are consistently amazing and have always been one of the highlights of my visits. It’s disappointing that the rest of the staff doesn't consistently provide the same level of hospitality.

I've spent hundreds of dollars here, both alone and with friends, and I used to recommend this place regularly. Sadly, after my most recent experience, I no longer feel comfortable sending friends or family here, no matter how good the food may be. A great menu can only go so far when guests don't feel welcomed or respected.

This restaurant is located in a very touristy area and is advertised as a Cuban restaurant. While they do serve traditional Cuban dishes, the menu also seems influenced by other Latin cuisines, giving it more of a fusion feel.

They did a very good job with the ropa vieja dish. The coffee was good as well, although the dessert selection was somewhat limited. Prices were reasonable and not overly expensive.

The restaurant is open 24 hours, and even around midnight there were still many patrons, which created a lively and energetic atmosphere. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and will return again.

While I visited the restaurant a few years ago, it wasn't until a few weeks ago that I gave it another go...it is my new favorite go to spot!

The staff is welcoming and have become quick friends. The music is great. Highly recommend sitting at the bar (or table). The place is very LGBT welcoming.

The food is so tasty - with great portions. Love the steak and eggs (their breakfast is served all day), iced tea, red sangria, espresso martini, and their play on eggs Benedict. Love that you can see into the kitche where everything is being cooked!

Perfect place if you want an easy, casual hang out place...you can hear the laughter throughout the entire space. They are also open 24/7. Highly recommend.

I had a great experience at Coppelia Cuban Restaurant. The ambiance is vibrant and welcoming, and the menu has so many delicious options. My friends and I ordered the Havana salad, mac and chicharrón, calamares mixto, and finished with a tres leches for dessert—everything was absolutely flavorful and satisfying. The team was very friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. We enjoyed it so much and will definitely be back. Highly recommended! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It is one of the only places in the city that opens 24 zh hours. I love that convenience.
I usually get chicken for the main course , Arroz con Pollo is delicious as well as the pollo a la plancha if you like the spicy kale.

Service is always great, but this time, staff went the extra mile. Thank you very much Sandro for the great experience, as well as Pedro for your great work being our waiter.

Had a gift certificate so decided to try brunch here. Sat at the bar easily on a Sunday morning around 10am, no wait. Food is fine - could be hotter. Had to flag waiter down a few times for more coffee and check. Definitely some character customers in here since they are open 24 hours (people ending their night here - still drunk). Not blown away, don’t think I’ll come back.

The seafood arepa and oxtail empanadas were absolutely delicious! I'd love to come back and try some of the other arepa flavors. The plantains were cooked perfectly.

Rating: 9.5/10
Date Last Visited: 1/25/2026

We ordered the Lomo Saltado ($30), Shrimp and Grits ($28), Mofongo Con Constilla ($30), Churrasco ($29), Steak Frites ($32), Ceviche ($17), and Dulce De Leche Pancakes ($17). Almost every dish was amazing, but the lomo saltado is the star of the show. The combination of the beef short rib, onions, tomato, and fries along with the sauces is perfect. The beef is extremely tender and the dish is super flavorful. It’s worth going to Coppelia just to eat the lomo. For brunch, the shrimp and grits is really solid too, but a bit pricey for just four shrimps. The pancake was amazing too. For the dinner entrees, the churrasco and steak frites are also really good. Coppelia does a good job on all their dishes and I’m a huge pan. Overall, I would 100% recommend this place.

Where do I begin? They did not give us small plates to share our appetizer, not that it was worth eating, and were stingy with request for more napkins. The tables are literally shoulder to shoulder with other customers, making it very uncomfortable. One server takes the order yet another one’s name is on the bill so we did not know who was requesting tip. Now onto the food, the chips and guac were absolutely disgusting, oily, and the guac was runny and brown as if it was left out of the fridge. The entrees left much to be desired. We got the pan seared salmon with purple mash potatoes which literally tastes like regular mash potatoes with purple dye. The second entree, the pork mofongo with beef short rib was lackluster. One could tell the quality of the food has gone downhill. Will not be returning.

On November 15 at approximately 8am I visited Coppelia for the first time after working an overnight shift. I ordered the steak and eggs with moro and avocado. I've heard of this restaurant and couldn't wait to try it because all I've heard were great things however this was not my experience. I tried to be understanding because of the time I went. It was early but their service was lackluster and the food was underwhelming.I ate it despite the distaste because I am not fond of wasting food unnecessarily. The steak was dry and the moro was as well. The food in its totality felt like it was reheated food from days before witht he exception of the over medium eggs. I was greatly disappointed with their food and service. Never going back.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE, i am absolutely coming back here again. we ordered the shrimp and grits, oxtail empanada, mofongo w the beef, and the dulce de leche milkshake. the shrimp and grits was out of this world, so creamy and delicious, the grits reminded me a little of mashed potatoes. the oxtail empanada was much smaller than i thought, but really nice flavors and the crispy plantain on the bottom was to die for. the beef in the mofongo was so so tender and delightful, it basically melted in my mouth, I would highly recommend. the mofongo also was so flavorful and had a nice kick to it! the milkshake was nice, not my favorite idk what i was expecting but it was lovely and sweet. they also only have fufu and oxtail during dinnertime so keep that in mind, i definitely got to come back to try that next time!! also the service was outstanding, very kind and welcoming staff. when i went in for a table, they originally only had seating at the bar and a table would be a 15 min wait so we just decided to sit at the bar, but later the kind gentleman notified us that a table had just opened up and they helped us get acquainted. it got a bit loud at some point but thats to be expected in such an amazing restaurant where people come to enjoy some good food. overall an outstanding experience and i am so excited to come again soon <3

This took me back to early New York. It’s set is the beautiful Cuban diner, with a classic diner touch and a Cuban flare. The food was perfection. I had the Salmon with purple mashed potatoes. My date had the Lomo Saltado. I had a wonderful Dulce De Leche milkshake and my date had the Sangria. I also had an oxtail empanada that was made like I landed in Cuba. The atmosphere alone would make you stay, but the food will make you linger. The Mojito is one of the best that I’ve had in the city. My new favorite spot.

Had such a delicious meal. We got Rabo encendido (oxtail & fufu) & mofongo con costilla (mashed plantain w short rib). It was my first time having mofongo and I’m not sure how to describe it but it’s potato-e and a little sweet from the plantain. It’s not like mashed potatoes mashed, it’s got Structure. The short rib it came with was so tender fall right off the bone. My favorite was the oxtail. The fufu was actually sweet and pretty soft more like mashed potatoes. The oxtail was tender and soaked up all the delicious sauce. Came out to around $40pp for one entree each. Overall 8.5/10

I came here for brunch because it was highly recommended. Service is good and the drinks were phenomenal. It's first come first served and even though my large party was late they were able to see us all together by the grace of gods. The food itself was just okay. The steak from the steak and eggs was basic. The chicken was really tasty from the chicken and waffles. The other dishes lacked some flavor which was a bit disappointing although they were good. I may return but mainly to try other dishes as this place was rated pretty highly by others.
