I came to Ruth’s Chris Steak House on April 18 for a 6 PM reserved dinner party. Overall, the experience was pretty smooth—service felt quick and getting seated was easy, which I appreciated for a group setting.

That said, the attentiveness could’ve been a bit better. Our waiter, Elizabeth (though the name tag said Kathleen), and the manager didn’t really check in on us throughout the meal as much as you’d expect at a place like this. It wasn’t terrible service, just not as engaging or attentive as it could’ve been.

Food-wise, my Lobster Mac & Cheese tasted really good at first. However, toward the end of the dish—literally the third-to-last bite—I found a large piece of lobster shell hidden in the food that I could’ve choked on. That was honestly concerning and took away from the experience.

One thing that also stood out was the condition of the space—there was a noticeable crack in the ceiling, and the dining area felt a bit too open, which took away from the upscale, intimate vibe you usually expect from Ruth’s Chris.

Overall, not a bad experience, but a few details kept it from feeling like a top-tier steakhouse visit.

We had a great waitress, she was one of the best that I've had in a long time. She was very willing to give her opinion on the food and it's so refreshing when you can tell the employees genuinely enjoys the food themselves. I could tell she actually looked forward to ordering her food daily.

I love Ruth's Chris! Every Steakhouse I visit I mentally compare to Ruth's Chris. I have never ever been disappointed by anything here. The staff is always friendly and attentive. They keep on top of the water service. The manager came over to see how everything was. Text book perfect service. The views from this Ruth's Chris of the NYC skyline are always a nice bonus. I ordered the porterhouse, which comes sizzling in butter just how I like it. Save the bread to dip in this buttery meaty goodness. The meat here is always top quality. Flavorful, tender and delicious. I got the creamed spinach and potatoes au gratin, both excellent. If you are looking for a great dinner, look no further!

Okay, I must give the restaurant credit. The service was good, and the food was excellent, but I did not like the atmosphere. When we first came in, they sat us all the way in the back near the wall. It became so hot and claustrophobic. I did ask to move, and the manager made sure that happened. As far as room goes, I would rather go to the one in Jersey City.

So normally I don’t leave reviews on places especially negative reviews, but last night my boyfriend and I went for valentine’s day and I must say I was so EXTREMELY disappointed in the service we received. We had a reservation for 7:15pm, we got there early because my boyfriend was told there was NO grace period, there was limited seating, and a 90 minute limit per table. We got in there at exactly 7:04. We waited for an hour to be seated. Several people with later reservations who came later than we did, even late for their own reservations were seated before we were even after speaking to the hostess two times. After we were sat our waitress didn’t come by for a good almost 10 minutes. Our appetizer didn’t come until almost an hour after, exactly 8:55 because I had went to the bathroom and my boyfriend texted me when it got there. Our drinks came a half an hour after we ordered them. The waitress then came another 35 minutes later to ask if we were interested in dessert… we didn’t even get our entrees. When we did, half of the mashed potatoes were cold and genuinely none of the food was worth the price except for the appetizer which i will give them was pretty good. We left around 10:30 because we had to wait for our bill to come and at that point we didn’t even want to finish our food. I was so excited to try this restaurant because all i’ve heard were exceptional things. I can understand that on a busy night like valentine’s day there might be some wait. But when the couple next to us who had a later reservation, was sat almost 10 minutes before us (also was sat next to us) had gone through a full 3-4 course meal by the time we even received/finished our appetizer is absolutely absurd. I would never go here again. The only positive thing I could say was the interior was beautiful and the staff was nice, but besides that the experience was absolutely horrid and ruined what was supposed to be a wonderful valentine’s day.

Please rest assured that in this Ruth's Chris, as well as all others, our intention is to provide the highest and finest quality with regard to both food and service, not to mention hospitality - much like Ruth would have done herself. The food was excellent; however, the service and overall experience were disappointing.

My girlfriend and I arrived a little early for our reservation, and since our table was not yet ready, the hostess suggested we have a drink at the bar. We waited approximately 15 minutes to be served. Just as we received our drinks, we were informed that our table was ready. When I asked if we could finish our drinks before being seated, we were told the table would be given away if we did not sit down immediately. As a result, we felt rushed.

Once seated, we then waited an additional 20 minutes for drinks to be delivered to our table. During that time, the server encouraged us to place our food order even though we had no beverages. When we explained that we preferred to wait until our drinks arrived, we were told we could have water in the meantime. We declined and chose to wait until our ordered drinks were finally delivered.

It appeared that only two bartenders were responsible for serving guests at the bar, preparing drinks for the dining room tables, and handling food orders placed at the bar. The limited staffing seemed to significantly impact the level of service.

The food was truly very good, but the service experience and apparent understaffing detracted from what could have been a much more enjoyable evening.

Yes — my bad for not asking. After ordering an old fashioned before the meal, I asked to taste a single glass of cabernet with dinner. The server brought one glass of- it was ok. I asked to taste a 2nd - it was ok. I chose the first. When I got the bill it was $42. What? I’m sorry - but that’s slimy and I don’t tip on slimy. We moved into a new apartment just 2 blocks away and Ruth Chris’ could have been a once a week go to. But now it’s a never again.

The was our 1st time at Ruth Chris. The atmosphere was ABSOLUTELY phenomenal!! They greeted us as soon as we entered and had a very welcoming attitude. The customer service was exceptional (Zac)!! He was very knowledgeable and attentive to detail. We were in town for a meeting and celebrating our anniversary!! The decorated the table with rose petals. That was a special touch and appreciated!! The food was top-notch. The steak salad and house salad were fresh and crisp. The 11oz sirloin was amazing and extremely flavorful!! The best steak of the evening!! The 2 16oz NY Strips had OUTSTANDING flavor but were a just a little tough but overall still very good. The Asparagus is one of the best I ever had. It was cooked to perfection. The cheesy au gratin potatoes were phenomenal. The bread was fresh and warm. Zac brought us out a dessert cheesecake for our anniversary!! This was an Incredible evening to end an AMAZING weekend!! Thank you for wonderful service and an amazing experience!!

Side Note: parking was very easy and inexpensive for valet. It was only $10.

I really liked that the steak was served on an extremely hot plate, so I could let it cook a bit more if I wanted. The decorative “Happy Birthday” writing on the dessert plate was also such a nice touch.

On top of that, the location—with a view of the Manhattan night skyline—was truly wonderful. I really hope this restaurant continues to grow and do well.

The spinach side, however, felt a bit too much like a purée, so that could be improved.
Other than that, everything was great. The martini cocktail was excellent too!

I absolutely enjoyed this meal at Ruth's Chris steak house. The food was perfect, drinks were perfect, the service was excellent and they were so nice and kind! The food photos speaks for itself. I had the seared ahi tuna for an appetizer and I have had this many times and I've got to say this is probably the best appetizer dish I've ever had for seared ahi tuna. My friend had the stuffed mushrooms which were absolutely amazing. For the entree my boyfriend and I shared a tomahawk steak for two Cook's rare with blue cheese crumbles on top. They sliced it off the bone for us and drizzled it in butter. This melts in your mouth. For side I had creamed spinach and he had the asparagus with hollandaise sauce. My friend had the filet mignon with shrimp and a side of creamed spinach. Her husband had a New York strip with crumbly bleu cheese on top and for a side he had the cheesy potatoes. The portions were appropriate we were stuffed. But I still had to save room for the creme brulee which is my absolute favorite dessert. And it did not disappoint. It was absolutely perfect. This was a pretty expensive meal but it was worth every penny.

I came here for my 26th birthday. They were flexible for the reservations which was nice. I ordered the classic fixed menu they had. So the Caesar salad with the steak and shrimp and dessert. I also ordered the Mac and cheese which was very good. Tonya was great and attentive. My only knit pick is when they asked me what I was celebrating when I made my reservation I told them it was my birthday but there was no candle or anything related to that which honestly was a bummer.

Best crab cake I've ever had in my life! Outstanding!
The steak was tender and flavorful. We got porterhouse for 2, lamb chops, and cowboy ribeye.👍🏻

But the side dishes were too oily.😛 We ordered the mushroom, creamy spinach and asparagus, and they were already drowned in butter... but even served with a ball of extra butter on the side. 😅
Why on earth would a person need this much butter?
The meat already has a lot of juicy fat... I wish the side dishes could be lighter and more refreshing to balance the steak.
I felt like my vein was getting clogged by oil. 🥴

Service was ok. One of the servers who cleared our plates was very impatient and had a grumpy attitude. He probably had a bad day. 😶

Excellent presentation and service at this location. The Manager was attentive and listened to our needs. Our server Charles was so very friendly and our family really enjoyed the food and service. My grandson came home asking if we can go back and have Charles as our waiter again. We will be back! 😍 As for the food...omg...sweet potatoes are Crack, lobster Mac and cheese is addictive. You will be pleased with any steak here but you must try the stuffed chicken!
