We ordered 4 orders of the weekend brunch Chicken and Waffles. They were perfectly moist, tender, and crispy and ended up being a half chicken having both dark and white meat. Service was fast considering they are frying chicken fresh to order and all. Will definitely come back

Good brunch places with excellent food options. The pancakes were amazing and so was the pasta. Although the chicken sandwich wasn't that great. Overall a good option for a group brunch meet up. I would recommend reserving a table if possible as the place gets very busy.

This was a great place to meet family and celebrate a kids birthday. They don’t really have a kids menu but the pancakes are over the top and they do have chicken tenders if you ask. The staff was super accommodating to all of our requests. Will def be back.

We ordered two orders of wings - genuinely the smallest wings with basically 0 meat (literally just skin) on them. I thought it was a joke. The wings were smaller than a matchbook and about the size of my pinkie. There was one (1) normal sized wing which I included in a photo for reference. Bummer because I liked Buddy's but that was a waste of money. Pic from their website for reference lol. I'm starving : )

Response from the owner

Hello Kait,

We’re truly sorry this meal missed the mark for you, and your feedback is being addressed so we can improve. It was superbowl weekend and the demand of wings from our suppliers forced them to give us a case of wings that we wouldn't offer to our costumers. Our wings are usually everyone's favorites. Your feed back was brought up to me and I handle those wings. I'm truly sorry and hope to see you soon so you can tried our real order of wings. And hope that from all your visits to buddy's we can get a positive feed back from you.

Best, Buddy’s JC Team

Came here with family for Christmas breakfast and unfortunately left disappointed with both the food and service. I ordered the chicken fried steak, which comes with two eggs, and requested one extra egg. When the meal arrived, I was given a side of two additional eggs. Only after I pointed it out did the server mention that extra eggs can only be ordered as a side of two—something that should have been explained upfront.

I also asked for the eggs over medium, but they arrived very runny, to the point where I couldn’t eat them. The hash browns tasted like the frozen kind you’d get at a fast-food restaurant, and the chicken fried steak was small, chewy, and not enjoyable. I order chicken fried steak often, so I know what to expect, and this did not come close—especially for the price.

Service needs improvement as well. No one asked if there was an issue with my plate, despite most of it being left untouched, and I was never offered a coffee or water refill during our visit.

I don’t usually write reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough that I felt it deserved feedback.

Response from the owner

Hello Carlos,

I’m really sorry to hear that your holiday breakfast left you feeling let down, especially when it came to the way your order was handled and the overall attention you received. It’s clear we missed the mark on both food and service, and your feedback is valuable as we work to deliver a better experience moving forward.

Sincerely, Buddy’s JC Team

JC Buddy’s of Jersey City Brunch Spot Worth Waking Up For!

We came for brunch and wow, Buddy’s absolutely delivered.

Biscuits & Gravy: The biscuits were fluffy clouds of joy… buttery, golden, and perfectly baked. The sausage gravy was rich, flavorful, and smothered lovingly over top. It didn’t drown the biscuits (which I appreciate!) but I wouldn’t have minded just a splash more gravy to soak up with those last bites. The side of potatoes? Unreal. Crispy, tender, almost like Greek lemon potatoes met a breakfast hash… and they fell in love.

Chicken & Waffles: O.M.G. The chicken was seasoned and spiced to perfection, crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and not a hint of greasiness. The waffles were light, fluffy, and dusted with powdered sugar like a brunch snowstorm. Loved the option of classic maple and spiced maple syrup for a little kick. The only (tiny) drawback? I’m not a huge fan of bone-in chicken first thing in the morning, but that’s personal preference, not a deal-breaker.

Coffee & Service: Endless hot refills, attentive staff, and genuinely kind vibes. The coffee was solid good drip brew, no bitterness, and they never let the cup go empty.

And yes, one biscuit went mysteriously missing before I could grab a photo… my sister couldn’t resist diving in early. 😂

If you’re brunch hopping around Jersey City, add JC Buddy’s to your list. Cozy, flavorful, and just the right amount of indulgent.

Response from the owner

Hi Helen,

Your kind words about our brunch, especially the way you described the biscuits and the welcoming atmosphere, truly mean a lot to us. We’re so glad you felt right at home and enjoyed your visit from coffee to the last bite.

With gratitude, The Buddy’s JC Crew

The atmosphere here is so cute. Its giving diner meets pocono cabin. There were so many solid options on the menu for brunch, that I was torn on what to order. When I asked Helbert how the breakfast burger was, he mentioned the one I was eyeing was amazing- and it did NOT disappoint. The burger felt like a breakfast sandwich, but it was truly a burger with breakfast vibes with pork roll and mozzarella cheese (make sure to ask for the egg over easy as it might not come out that way by default). Herlbert made my husband and I feel super welcome and was super attentive. Small diner feels with great service and friendly vibes. My husband got the fried chicken and waffles and I could not get over how juicy and crispy the fried chicken was. The waffles were super fluffy with an amazing spiced syrup. Highly recommend if you want a casual brunch with outstanding food.

Response from the owner

Came here on a early Saturday afternoon for some brunch. I was able to find parking on the street, not metered, right down the street from the venue. I was promptly seated to a table upon entering the restaurant. I placed an order for a cappuccino, a buddy breakfast and a cocktail called the Bae. My cappuccino was good, my food was amazing. I order the eggs over medium and french toast. The french toast was sweet and a good deal of cinnamon...just the way I like it. My drink "the bae" was very good, just strong enough. My only compliant was that the floral in the drink was very overpowering, too overpowering. But besides that, a really good meal. Service was good, Ambiance was nice and cozy. Would definitely go again.

Response from the owner

We ordered two classic burgers with fries and two cocktails (one of them a margarita). Everything was delicious — juicy burgers, crispy fries, and refreshing drinks. The atmosphere was cozy, and the service was quick and attentive. A perfect spot for a relaxed evening or a date. We’ll definitely be back!

Response from the owner

Very nice little bar. Cold air con so good for a hot day. Food was very nice and massive portions! Staff were efficient and friendly. The food was OK. Portion sizes were great but the pancakes could have been fluffier, love the atmosphere but there are better diner options nearby.

Going to Shake Shack after this because we are still hungry and regret our initial assessment and decision of this place

The Avocado on the Avocado Toast was not at all fresh. It had turned brown from one end and didn’t taste fresh either.

My friends ordered sandwiches and the bread was too thick to be eaten

Good happy hour otherwise the drinks are on the expensive side at $14 minimum for the cocktails .

Good happy hour deals. We ended up getting plenty of appetizers for the group. The calamari and mozzarella sticks were nice and crunchy without being too oily. The pork belly was soft and tender but on smothered with too much sweat sauce (bbq?). Cauliflower bites were just ok. Fries could have been more crunchy but decent.

No annoying music blasting so that was good. Glasses were not so clean - had lip stain on the glass of water. Otherwise everything else seemed ok.

Didn't get a pic of everything but I thought the blue drink was just eh for $14 especially. It's a matter of taste. Nice presentation though. My friend liked her match alcohol drink - she got two of it for $28, so you can see how everything starts to add up quickly

We desired some American food the other day, so we chose this restaurant closer to our place. The service was okay, but the food was off my expectation, especially the fish and chips. They are soft and mushy rather than crispy. For the cauliflower tacos, corn/pumpkin seeds accounted for much more proportion than cauliflower, and people sensitive to spicy should avoid this dish, as it’s bit too spicy. Not sure for the revisit, maybe will try burgers next time

Response from the owner

We appreciate your honest feedback. Our apologies if our fish and chips and cauliflower tacos didn't meet your expectations. We're looking into the issues raised. We'd love to have you back to try our burgers. We're confident they won't disappoint. Sincerely, Buddy's JC.
