I pay almost $200 for products and you send me women’s mascara instead. Then after I maneuver your phone tree I’m told that “I must print off a label and to find a UPS store to return it???? You just assume I have a printer, tape, and live ANYWHERE close to a UPS store. Oh. And this little plastic envelope was COMPLETELY smashed!!! Great packaging. If I needed this experience I could shop at Walmart. AND YOUR CHAT CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLD ME TO JUST PURCHASE IT AGAIN!!! are you kidding me? Am I dealing with Walmart here or Bloomingdales???

I had the pleasure of meeting Fay Badran in the jewelry department at Bloomingdale’s, and she was absolutely wonderful. She was kind, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to help me find exactly what I was looking for. Her friendly and attentive service made the entire shopping experience enjoyable. I highly recommend stopping by the jewelry department and asking for Fay if you’re looking for exceptional customer service!

Nice place. Christine from the bedding department on 6th floor was super helpful and friendly. Other staff were also friendly.

Overall experience is really so so. The staff there overall is very stuck up. I know they have some of the nicer brands in their building, but it is really no way to treat customers.

I went here a week ago on a hunt for my wedding fragrance, and I was really impressed with the folks at the fragrance counters, especially Carlos at Byredo and Courtney at Diptyque! Both were extremely friendly and patient with my mom and I exploring different perfumes. Courtney had been with Diptyque for 12 years, if I recall correctly, and was clearly a perfume expert - she was an excellent consultant without feeling pushy at all.

Today I walked into Bloomingdale’s on 59th Street looking for a perfume that felt interesting and different. I’ve never been someone who sticks to one signature scent forever. I usually gravitate toward niche fragrances and tend to obsess over certain scent families for a while: a rose that feels modern instead of overly classic, the perfect vetiver with an effortless unisex quality, a vanilla with depth, or lately, florals that unfold in unexpected ways.

But this review is not really about perfume. It’s about Carrie at the Penhaligon’s counter.

In a retail world increasingly filled with disengaged, surface-level sales experiences, she stood out immediately with her grace, finesse, knowledge far beyond the brand itself, and incredible patience, because I spent hours on the fragrance floor today trying to find something that truly felt different and memorable. I stopped at countless counters throughout the store, and not one representative came close to her level of passion or understanding of fragrance.

What surprised me most was finding out she was relatively new to the brand, because she spoke about it with the confidence and depth of someone who had been immersed in it for years. She never pushed or oversold anything. She simply listened carefully, understood what I was drawn to, and guided me toward scents that actually made sense for my taste.

I walked out with Penhaligon’s Elisabethan Rose, a fragrance I probably would have overlooked without her guidance. Elegant, complex, romantic, but with enough edge and freshness to avoid becoming overly traditional. Exactly the kind of rose I’m always searching for.

Kudos to Penhaligon’s for finding someone who embodies the sophistication of the brand itself. Carrie elevated the entire experience from shopping into something memorable. Fragrance lovers know how rare that is. 🌹

I’ve been shopping at Bloomingdale’s 59th Street my entire life, so I thought I knew exactly what to expect every time I walked in—but that completely changed after visiting the newly redesigned 4th floor.

The new designer floor is exceptional. The selection feels fresh, elevated, and far more exciting than anything I’ve experienced there before—it honestly transformed how I view shopping at Bloomingdale’s.

What made the experience unforgettable, though, was Nicole on the 4th floor. I came in last minute looking for a dress and was definitely under a time crunch. Not only did Nicole find exactly what I had in mind, but after taking the time to understand what I liked (and didn’t), she pulled additional options that were perfectly aligned with my style. I ended up leaving with not just one dress, but another beautiful option for my sister’s wedding the following week—which was a huge relief.

Nicole is truly exceptional. She’s professional, incredibly knowledgeable about the designers, and so warm and welcoming. This wasn’t a typical retail interaction where you grab something, check out, and forget who helped you—this felt thoughtful, curated, and personal from start to finish.

She even went beyond clothing and helped me pick up cosmetics and home items I needed, which speaks to how much she cares about the overall experience.

I made sure to get her contact information because I’ll absolutely be working with her moving forward. Nicole on the 4th floor new designer floor is exceptional, and she has completely elevated my experience at Bloomingdale’s.

11/10 experience.

Bloomingdale’s is a classic NYC shopping destination with a wide selection of designer brands, trendy fashion, and luxury goods.

The store is well-organized and clean, and the displays are visually appealing, making it fun to browse. Sales staff are generally knowledgeable and helpful, especially in the higher-end sections.

That said, it can get crowded, especially on weekends or during holiday sales, and some departments feel a bit overwhelming with the sheer size of the store.

Prices are high, as expected for designer items, but there are occasional sales and promotions that make shopping more appealing.

The iconic “Big Brown Bag” experience is a fun part of visiting, especially for tourists.

Bloomingdale’s (59th Street)

Every time I pass by this building, I can’t help but stop and admire it. The iconic black façade paired with the seasonal light installation feels bold yet restrained—very New York, very Bloomingdale’s. It’s eye-catching without being loud, and effortlessly stylish.

Step inside and you get the classic department store experience done right: well-curated brands, clear layout, and a calm, comfortable shopping atmosphere. This isn’t a flashy mall—it’s timeless, confident, and refined.

Even if you’re not shopping, it’s worth visiting just to appreciate the design and the energy of the place.

Bloomingdale’s felt very upscale overall. The interior was polished and elegant, with a refined atmosphere that made shopping feel relaxed and premium rather than hectic.

Absolutely useless store and staff.
On my first visit I tried to replace a $40 Bloomingdales umbrella.
They were out of stock, but no problem they promised to put one aside for my next visit.
On my next visit the 1st floor didn't even realise they sold the umbrella.
On the 7th floor they were equally disinterested.
Poor customer service and ridiculous in the build up to Christmas not to have any stock.

Fast shipped, protectively packaged. Bloomingdale's even went the added touch of class by including a beautiful Maxim's gift bag to put the Maxim's Marc of Champagne chocolate truffles in. Always world-class to treat every customer your very best! I highly recommend Bloomingdale's for your shopping and these delicious Maxim's Marc of Champagne chocolate truffles!

I loved the service here at Bloomingdale's and was able to find and purchase the purse I wanted from the LV store there. The entire store was spotless, decorated, and absolutely beautiful!

Checked out the fragrance area at Bloomingdale's. Great experience, amazing customer service, great variety. Prices are a bit high compared to online fragrance sites, but the experience is worth it, you get to try out tons of samples.

Such an amazing experience every time, and trust me when I say I’m here more than I am in my own home. My favorite stylist is ❤️Kenne k.❤️ from the Jo Malone London department. Baby when I tell you Kenne knows cologne and perfume he knows his stuff. I drive pass 2 malls and pay tolls just to get to this Bloomingdale’s. The aura, the energy. Just amazing 🤩 please give him a raise and employer of the forever. 😊I was just at Bloomingdale’s in Westchester for a YSL purchase and the service was bad I left a review. Good service is hard to find. Thanks Kenne. See you soon.
-unique
