Such a fun experience! Came to celebrate my mom’s birthday. The best lamb I’ve had in a long time! The soup dumplings and scallops were also both really good. Our waiter was amazing and made our night really wonderful. We’ll be back!

I recently visited Beauty & Essex and wanted to leave a review because the experience was exceptional. From the ambience to the service and meal, I had a lovely experience.

The food was excellent from start to finish. Every dish was delicious, beautifully prepared, and worth talking about long after dinner. That was a meal I won’t forget, especially the lamb chops.

What made the night even more special was the service. Our waitress was wonderful and attentive, and there were two women assisting her who went far beyond what anyone would normally expect. It meant a lot and did not go unnoticed.

The whole staff was attentive, warm, and on top of everything all night. Water glasses stayed full, plates were cleared quickly, and everything flowed so smoothly. You can tell when people truly care about the guest experience, and that was felt here.

Thank you to the entire team for making it such a memorable evening. We will definitely be back and highly recommend it.
Group of 5. Tasting Menu.

We came 15 minutes late to our reservation and they were great at getting us seated anyway.

The menu was a bit overwhelming so we decided to do the tasting menu for everyone at the table. I am fully aware our table was hard to accommodate!! 1/5 was vegetarian. 1/5 was gluten free. 3/5 do not eat pork. We confirmed with our server that they could substitute vegetarian and gluten free meals. Also confirmed that the pork would be on the side, however, it was not but they were very quick to fix it.

The food and service were very fast. Wished they gave us new clean plates after each course. So much food but that might be because of the substitutions we needed for our party. We all felt VERY full and it got hard finishing the food.

The food was good. Glad we were able to try most of the food on the menu. Grilled cheese good. Beef Wellington good. Salad amazing. Salmon terrible. Mac and cheese too heavy. Ravioli good. Tuna Tacos amazing. Birthday cupcake terrible (but free).

The music was way too loud. We couldn’t hear across the table with Fergalicious type music. The restaurant unfortunately attracts a loud immature crowd. Beautiful atmosphere disregarding the crowd and music.
Visited Beauty and Essex on a birthday trip to NYC. Nestled behind a pawn shop, I had no idea what to expect when we walked through the doors. Absolutely beautiful, cozy space. Service was top notch. My only complaint is that it’s not ideal for unadventurous eaters like myself. The food we did have was great, all shareable bites. Truffle Mac was a bit rich for my stomach. Tomato and grilled cheese dumplings were soooo good. We also had the French dip and I asked if the aus jus had onions in it. They said yes but it didn’t seem to when the plate arrived. Drinks were delicious. I’d definitely go back!
My girlfriend took me here for my birthday! Loved it!! It was also restaurant week! Shoutout Brendan S our waiter. Loved his recommendations! The #strawberryshots amazing #macncheese + #Lobster!
Came here on Valentine’s Day for the dinner and very delicious drinks. My only complaint is ofcourse the portions. I’m not sure if I’m the issue and my American brain is used to larger individual portions but I just felt like if it’s going to be “family style” then the portions should be a bit larger. The food tasted fantastic though and the drinks are honesty unbelievably delicious. They make the best espresso martini’s in all of nyc
I went last night to celebrate a friends birthday. We did a pre fix since we were a large group and it was amazing. Large portions, beautifully executed and serviced. Our waitress, Rose, was truly an angel. From the second we were sat down upstairs, she made sure we were accommodated and that our event was well celebrated. Please ask for her next time you go. On top of the amazing hospitality we received, every single bite and sip was delicious. From the lobster rolls , to the prawns , dumplings, salmon steak , everything. This was my secondtime here and will definitely be coming back.
I don’t think you go here for food, but for the vibes. Speakeasy vibe with a bar and a restaurant. Food is generally solid too. It was a good vibe enough to go there twice.
Came to Beauty & Essex for my best friend’s birthday with a group of 12. The space is dark, cozy, and beautiful. Such a great vibe for a celebration.

The food was amazing and served family-style. The tomato soup dumplings with grilled cheese were comforting and delicious, but the Thai chili shrimp stole the show. So flavorful and addicting. The bone marrow was a 10 out of 10. For my main, I ordered the salmon over black garlic risotto and it was incredible. I honestly wanted another plate.

The only downside was paying at the end. They recently implemented a QR code system where you split the bill by selecting your own items, but it doesn’t give you a receipt showing what you paid for. With a large group, it turned into complete chaos and was pretty frustrating. That system definitely needs improvement.

Despite that, the food and ambiance were great and I would still come back, just hoping the payment process is smoother next time.
Joe was excellent! He knew the menu back and front and his recommendations were top tier! I will def be coming back to this restaurant when I am in the area. Super cute place found in the back of a jewelry shop! Thanks for the amazing service, welcoming atmosphere, and even better food!
I came here for dinner with my omnivore family after seeing online that there is an entire vegan menu available. After being seated, it wasn’t obvious that the vegan menu was available, so I had to mention it to our server. We chose the two entrees available - gochujang tofu and an orzo dish, and they were amazing! This was probably the best vegan meal I’ve ever had (or have had in a long time) at a restaurant. I appreciate the separate menu - it has me the impression that the vegan options were intentionally crafted rather than an afterthought, which seems the case at most omnivore restaurants. The staff were also very attentive and excellent. Great ambiance and music. I can’t wait to come back or check out one of the other restaurants by Chef Santos!
So many good options, one of the best menus around! We did Thanksgiving here and couldn’t have been happier. I highly recommend the Lobster Carbonera, meatballs, and the Kale apple walnut salad.
First time here with friends to celebrate my wife’s Birthday.
The staff is so accommodating and friendly. We ordered the 5 course table share for the 4 of us which was more than we could eat.
It had 15 items which included appetizers, salad, 7 main course items and desert that we all shared and was so amazing for $98 per person which was a DEAL!! We also got the Beauty Wonder Wheel desert item that is really cool. It was a perfectly awesome night and we can’t thank the Chef’s and Staff there enough.
We will be back!!
During my recent visit to this charming restaurant, I was incredibly pleased by the kind and attentive service provided by our waiter Randy. His suggestions turned out to be all hits, enhancing the dining experience. The food was flavorful, filling, and each bite was thoroughly enjoyed, making for a truly satisfying meal. The ambience was lovely and exactly as portrayed in the photos—cozy yet vibrant, creating the perfect setting for a date night, a night out with friends, or simply enjoying good food and great vibes. I was so stuffed from all the delicious dishes that I didn't have room for dessert, but I definitely plan to leave some space next time to indulge in the delightful Wonder Wheel dessert. Overall, a fantastic spot that I highly recommend!
Beauty & Essex is hands down worth every cent. The staff was amazing and knowledgeable. Their recommendations were spot on and nothing less than perfect. The tomato soup and grilled cheese was absolutely my favorite.
This Speakeasy is neatly disguise as a pawn shop upon entry. I definitely will be back again and again and again!
