If you are looking for great affordable Happy Hour place near Korean town, I would highly recommend this place. Their Happy Hours are longer from 12pm-6pm every day so you can get light lunch there. Available on the menu Fried Chili Shrimp, Chicken Wings, Crunchy Tofu, Fried Dumplings, Tteokboki. Also for lunch, they serve affordable Tapas if you want light meal.

We went there for dinner and ordered Hwe Muchim (Spicy Korean Ceviche Salad) as appetizer. All the fish served with Korean chili sauce was fresh. Crunchy Tofu covered in sweet and spicy sauce and yet still crispy. Beef Galbi Buns were succulent and juicy filled with so much flavor. I love their Bimbibap Uni. Everything we ate was excellent plus service was phenomenal. Super friendly and attentive !

What we ordered :
- Crunchy Tofu in sweet & spicy sauce
- Tuna Mayo
- Steamed Pork Dumplings
- Hwe Muchim (Spicy Korean Ceviche with salad)
- Beef Galbi Buns
- Bimbibap Uni
- Fisherman Stew
- NY Bites (marinated short ribs)

honestly kinda mid, wildly pricey for not wholly authentic korean food. kimchi was spicy in the throat (never had that before), portions were kinda small. feels like the authenticity and heart of korean food was substituted for financial gain and popularity. the service was amazing though! the servers were wonderful and i appreciated their help.

I ordered the BBQ chicken, which tastes quite bland. The chicken was tender, but flavor and rice fell short to my expectations. I tried my friend’s spicy pork dish, which tasted far better than the chicken. Otherwise, the accompanying dishes were all delicious. I especially liked the croquette and shrimp tempura. The frying was done spectacularly, and the middle’s texture was preserved amazingly, which was a good contrast to the crispy exterior. The soup tasted refreshing, along with the sour pickled vegetables. I also liked the salad. If I had ordered another main dish, I probably would’ve gave the restaurant a higher review.

Otherwise, the restaurant was nicely decorated. Even the bathroom was well kept! I believe bathrooms are really telling of how much the restaurant cares for the customers, so a nice bathroom is always a plus :)

I've worked in the restaurant industry for >5 years and wow... portions were horrible. $27 for 6 scoops of the spicy pork stone bowl with spice that was over powering (coming from someone that likes spicy food). Could have added more rice cause only half of bowl was full?? And for the galbi-jjim, might as well take glass noodles off the ingredients with how little was added in. $77.30 total for these 2 dishes.

Thought I had already eaten my way through K-Town, but this place was a really nice surprise. We started with a few fried dishes since it was freezing outside and we were starving. The soft shell crab was easily the highlight, super crispy and packed with flavor. The fried calamari was also interesting because it had nuts mixed in, which gave it a really nice crunchy texture. We also tried the vegan pancake and it was full of vegetables and surprisingly crispy, almost thought it would be soft inside but it had great bite. The galbi jjim was the main event, with really tender beef, soft rice cakes, and glass noodles soaking up the slightly sweet sauce. We also ordered the Harmony cocktail set which comes with four light fruity drinks that actually glow in the glass, which was a fun touch. Finished with a huge bingsoo topped with ice cream, almonds, berries, and chewy rice cake balls, definitely sweet but perfect to share.

We snagged a reservation for a Wednesday evening and got a table up top in the corner. Our waitress was fantastic and had great recommendations. We split the soju flight, pork dumplings, chicken steamed buns, a Bulgoki bowl and a seafood pancake. Good and service was top notch. Great experience for my first dinner in NYC!

Looks good don’t taste good. Beer skunky - deal breaker. $100/person - not worth it.

The meaning of the restaurant's name is related to drinking alcohol in Korean. However, as I don't drink alcohol, I just wanted to have their lunch special first.

Katsu special was great with fresh salad, potato croquette and fish, chicken and shrimp tempura. However I did not love the dashi soup. It is good that the Hot stone Bibimbab also has some of Tenpura of shirmp and potato croquette as well.

Moreover the staff was very kind and handsome 😍

I would like to try other lunch specials soon. 😋

Response from the owner

Thanks so much for giving us a try! We’re glad you enjoyed the katsu and bibimbap, and we appreciate the honest notes. Our staff will definitely love the compliment :)

See you again!

We went to Barn Joe 35 on a Tuesday around 6 p.m. without a reservation and got seated right away at a table for two. The place is small but cozy — it feels welcoming and not overcrowded, which I really liked.

The menu has a good amount of options — enough to choose from without feeling overwhelming. We started with the chicken bites, which were super good: crispy, came out hot, and had a nice spicy sauce. For the mains, we had beef bibimbap and bulgogi — both were delicious and really hit the spot. I also tried one of their drinks, which was tasty and a bit unique.

They do have a happy hour, but it ends early (around 5 p.m.), so we missed it. Prices are pretty typical for Manhattan: appetizers around $15-$20, mains around $24-$30, and drinks about $20.

The vibe is relaxed and pleasant, the service was friendly and quick, and everything we ordered tasted great.

Overall, I’d give Barn Joe 35 a solid 5/5 — cozy spot with good food, good service, and a nice atmosphere. Would definitely recommend!

Food was really good. They have a good happy hour drink selection. You can spin the wheel to win prizes when booking a reservation!!
One of the best service. This Korean restaurant is one of my favorites! The food is always amazing — I love every dish and honestly can’t even pick a favorite. The vibes are great and fun, though it can get pretty crowded during dinner. One of the coolest things is their fancy cocktail flight with four different flavors, each served in a glass that lights up — such a fun and unique touch! Totally worth a visit every time.

Response from the owner

Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to be one of your favorite spots — and we're happy to hear you’ve enjoyed not only the food but also the vibe and our glowing cocktail flight (literally!). It’s always our goal to create a fun, memorable experience, and your support means the world. We can’t wait to welcome you back for another round of your favorite dishes!
