Yesterday, My coworker and I came to Bareburger for lunch during our break because we wanted something quick. We ordered salads, wings, and drinks. I ordered a frozen drink and my coworker ordered hers on the rocks.

First, I want to say our actual server has always been kind to me every time I’ve come in. I live in the neighborhood and have been coming to this location since before the remodel, so this experience honestly shocked me.

We waited a really long time for our food while multiple tables that came in after us were already getting served. Eventually my work alarm went off letting me know I only had 15 minutes left before I had to be back. At that point, we still didn’t have our food.

Then the bartender finally brought the drinks over, and my “frozen” drink was completely melted. I politely asked if it could be remade, and instead of just remaking it, he immediately got defensive and started arguing with me. I was calm and respectful the entire time, but he kept talking over me and being condescending.

What really upset me was when he came back holding the blender in the middle of the restaurant trying to explain to me what a frozen drink is supposed to look like. It honestly felt humiliating. My coworker even had to step in and tell him he was being disrespectful because there was absolutely no reason for him to speak to me that way in front of other customers.

By this point we had been there over an hour, still without food, and I was starting to feel physically sick because I had taken medication earlier that required me to eat. I was shaky, dizzy, frustrated, and honestly embarrassed.

At that point I didn’t even want the food anymore. The server apologized and offered to comp everything, but the experience had already ruined the entire visit for me. I ended up taking the food only because they insisted and gave it to a homeless man outside because I no longer wanted it.

I’ve never been treated this way at this location before, which makes this even more disappointing. When I told coworkers what happened after I got back to work, several of them said the bartender is apparently known for having a nasty attitude with customers.

Delays happen. Mistakes happen. But publicly arguing with and embarrassing a customer over a melted frozen drink is unacceptable. Sadly, after being a longtime customer, I won’t be returning.
