Service here is top notch,
The salads are both amazing and the burger that only Au chuval makes is really amazing. All the servers that we’ve had have been super friendly and helpful.

The drinks are great too, just like the au chuval in Chicago

The burger was absolutely delicious. I can’t say it was the best burger I’ve ever had, but it was definitely one of the best. The meat was cooked perfectly, the ingredients were fresh, and the flavors worked really well together.

The only downside is the price. At nearly $40 for a burger, it’s definitely on the expensive side, especially considering that fries are not included and have to be ordered separately.

That said, the quality of the food was excellent, and I really enjoyed the meal. If you’re looking for a great burger and don’t mind paying a premium for it, this place is worth trying.
As a New Yorker, it was a regular Saturday as me & my boyfriend were trying to figure out what to eat. I searched up “best burger” and this place popped up. As of lately we ditched our regular spots and have been trying new spots in the city and when I tell you, WE DID GOOD WITH THIS ONE. WOW. I’m not even the review typer type. But here I am, because it’s worth one.

Let me start off by saying, first impression is everything - and when we walked in - we were instantly welcomed so passionately. The host ladies were so nice and welcoming. We got seated pretty quickly without reservations.
Food came out pretty fast, we got two burgers, fries and Mac and cheese. It wassss sooo good, we didn’t have room for dessert and I could use a nap right about now. Our server Mikey was easy going and made his rounds checking in on us especially since we were tucked away behind the host stand. We didn’t feel unseen and it just was a good experience all around, from service, atmosphere and the food.
We will definitely be back and letting our friends and family know about this spot.
This dynamic space is packed with an electric energy and vibes, drawing a lively mix of tourists from around the world and local regulars. Stepping inside, you’re instantly energized by the sophisticated, moody interior and a bold, high-volume soundtrack.

Seated at the counter this time, I had a front-row seat to the action. Watching the kitchen crew skillfully and dynamically smash and sear patties on the griddle turned the wait into pure entertainment.

The signature double cheeseburger is an absolute masterpiece, bursting with savory juices. The balance is flawless—a rich, light brioche bun perfectly cradles the intense beef flavor, satisfying every sense with each bite.

Since everything here is remarkably hearty and generously sized, it’s best enjoyed with a group of 3 to 4 people to share and take in the vibrant atmosphere together.
Au Cheval NY absolutely deserves the hype 🍔🔥

Easily one of the Top 5 burgers in the world for me. Soo tasty, juicy, rich, and perfectly cooked. Every bite was insane. You can tell why people wait for it.

The place was super busy but the service still stayed good and organized, which made the experience even better. Great energy inside too — lively, loud, and full of people enjoying amazing food.

And the mac & cheese… wow. Creamy, flavorful, super tasty, and definitely not just a side dish.

A must-visit spot if you love burgers.
Our first time and what an amazing experience. It certainly lived up to the hype. The service was fantastic and so accommodating. My wife had told them it was our anniversary and they surprised us with a great ice cream and fudge dish w candle and complimentary Prosecco. We had a wonderful evening. Thank you!
This food was truly outstanding. Everything was perfectly hot when it arrived to our table, and the everything was seasoned just the perfect amount. While we were cramped a bit in our seating, that is the nature of any New York City restaurant. Our server, when we were able to catch him, was very nice. I would definitely return to try more menu items!
We've been wanting to come here for a while and it did not disappoint!
Our server Kristine was awesome and made great recommendations! The burgers so, so good and the shaved prime rib was excellent. Not one bad bite. But dont forget to get the chocolate cream pie! Its dense but so delicious! The vibe is friendly, not stuffy, lively on a Sat night, but not loud. Truly 10/10 experience!!
One of the absolute best burgers in New York City—no question about it. From the very first bite, you can tell this isn’t just another burger; it’s a full-on experience. The thick-cut slabs of bacon are rich, smoky, and perfectly cooked, and when paired with the egg on top, it elevates the entire dish to another level. The yolk breaks and melts into the meat, creating this indulgent, savory flavor that’s hard to replicate anywhere else.

Fair warning—this is not a neat, “eat-with-one-hand” kind of burger. It’s big, bold, and unapologetically messy, with layers that shift and drip as you go. But honestly, that’s part of the charm. Every bite is packed with flavor, and the chaos just adds to the experience.

This wasn’t my first visit, and it definitely won’t be my last. It’s one of those spots you keep coming back to because it never disappoints. If you truly appreciate a great burger—one that’s indulgent, flavorful, and unforgettable—this place needs to be on your list.
The food and drinks were outstanding. We didn’t have a reservation, so we added our names to the waitlist for bar seating, it took about 30 minutes before we were seated. We started with the General Jane’s honey fried chicken, and it was incredible.

For our mains, we both ordered the shaved prime rib sandwich. I can honestly say it’s the best I’ve had in my 38 years, and I don’t say that lightly.
Early dinner reservations (4pm) on a Wednesday, we arrived early and were seated promptly. Front of house was very friendly. Greeted by our server relatively quickly. Food was served quickly and was very good. We ordered the infamous burger and the prime rib sandwich. From there the visit is lack luster. Our server rarely returned to check in. Other servers refilled out beverages and cleared our plates. Our waitress did return to inquire about dessert (had not checked to see if the meal was ok) and delivered our check. Looked as though we may have been her last table but first or last table of the day a little more attention would be nice. The restaurant was not busy and well staffed. As someone who looks forward to trying new to me spots when traveling especially the ones that are raved about by others this visit from very flat and was disappointing. Good food and good service make the experience. We only had decent food and the service was 4/10.
Stopped by Au Cheval in NYC and ordered the Classic Double Cheeseburger with a fried egg.

Two thin beef patties with melted sharp American cheese, pickles, onions, and dijonnaise on a soft brioche bun. Adding the fried egg was the move. Once you cut into it the yolk mixes into the cheese and beef and it just works.

Super juicy burger and the bun held up perfectly.

Service was fantastic too. Friendly staff and everything came out quick.

Only complaint….$6 Diet Coke
Excellent interior design. The service was spotty. Food was disappointing.

Heard rave reviews about the burger here. Found myself thinking how much more flavor there is in my regular Bareburger order. Best part of this dinner was the ice cream (store bought?). For our meal, we ordered bone marrow (arrived room temperature), cocktails, and the burgers which lacked flavor.
I recently visited Au Cheval in Manhattan and had a great overall experience. I really loved the atmosphere. The environment has a cool, vibrant energy, and the music added a lot to the mood of the place.

The food was very good. We ordered the Caesar salad, mac and cheese, the burger, french fries and the chicken sliders. Everything was well-prepared and flavorful. The burger, of course, is the highlight. Is it the best burger I’ve ever had? No. But it’s definitely high quality, generously sized, and absolutely worth trying.

For dessert, we had two options, and the mille-feuille was huge and incredibly delicious, what a perfect way to end the meal.

Overall, a great dining experience with excellent ambiance, solid food, and portions that definitely satisfy. I would gladly go back!
Came here for Saturday brunch and the food was delicious. I don’t usually order burgers but I couldn’t resist getting the double cheeseburger. Definitely worth it. The bacon Mac & cheese was also great. The restaurant was a bit crowded and we did have to wait a bit before getting seated and but getting a coffee at the cafe was a good distraction while waiting. Would definitely recommend.
