⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Yes 🙌 An Absolute Gem in Brooklyn! Faultless Family Feast.

We had an incredible family lunch at Antidote today, and every single dish blew us away! The flavors are bold, authentic, and perfectly executed.

My wife was absolutely in love with her meal—her two hands-down favorites were the **Dandan noodles**, which had the perfect balance of spice and rich sesame depth, and the **Kungpao chicken**, packed with incredible flavor and just the right kick.
For me, the highlights were definitely the **Feihong fries** (unbelievably crispy and uniquely seasoned) and the **Numbing ribeye cubes**, which were exceptionally tender and delivered that classic, addictive Sichuan peppercorn buzz.

Our son completely devoured the **Pan fried dumplings**, which were perfectly golden and juicy, and paired them happily with the **Jasmine rice**.

My father-in-law also joined us and happily tasted a bit of everything on the table—he loved it all and thoroughly enjoyed sampling the dishes alongside his **Puer black tea**.

Even the rest of our massive spread was phenomenal. The **Leshan chicken** and **Sichuan chili fried chicken** were incredibly flavorful with fantastic texture.

The **Shredded beef with green pepper** and the **Fried rice w/ chicken** were comforting, savory, and cooked to perfection.

To balance out all the heat, the **Bok Choy with garlic** was beautifully fresh and crisp. In addition to the hot tea, we also had a Coca-Cola and a Ginger ale to round out the meal.

From the excellent service by Cong A. to the immaculate food, Antidote is an absolute home run. We will definitely be back regularly!

Some meals just hit every note without trying too hard, and Antidote in Brooklyn is one of those places where every dish feels like it was thought through and executed with real care.

Antidote focuses on modern Chinese cuisine with a refined, slightly creative edge, but nothing feels forced. It’s rooted in traditional flavors, just presented in a way that feels current and intentional without losing what makes the dishes work in the first place.

The wood ear mushroom dish was one of the best starters on the table. Crisp, slightly chewy, and tossed in a light dressing that brought out a clean acidity with just enough heat. It wakes up your palate immediately.

The mushroom ravioli was a standout and something you don’t come across often. Soft, delicate, and filled with a deep, earthy mushroom flavor that really comes through in every bite. It’s comforting but still feels elevated.

The chicken mushroom dumplings were just as strong. The wrappers were thin and tender, packed with flavorful filling, and finished simply with scallions and sauce that complemented everything without overpowering it.

The kung pao dish was exactly what you want it to be. Tender pieces of chicken, roasted peanuts, and dried chilies coming together with that perfect balance of heat, sweetness, and savory depth. Nothing overdone, just really well executed.

The braised short rib was rich, slow-cooked, and incredibly satisfying. The meat was tender and coated in a deep, glossy sauce with mushrooms that absorbed all that flavor. It’s the kind of dish that feels comforting but still polished.

The sichuan cold dish added another layer to the meal. Light, refreshing, and just spicy enough to keep things interesting without overwhelming the table.

And the raspberry cheesecake to finish was excellent. Smooth, balanced, and not overly sweet, with a bright raspberry layer that kept it from feeling heavy.

The service matched the food perfectly. Warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without ever feeling overbearing. Everything flowed naturally, which makes a big difference over the course of a full meal.

As someone who spends a lot of time in Brooklyn for real estate, I’m always paying attention to places that add something meaningful to a neighborhood. Antidote is definitely one of those spots. It’s the kind of restaurant you come back to because it consistently delivers across the board.

If you’re looking for modern Chinese cuisine in Brooklyn that balances traditional flavors with a thoughtful, updated approach, Antidote is absolutely worth a visit.

Response from the owner

Hey Brett,

Reading your thoughtful reflections on the balance of creativity and tradition in our dishes truly means a lot, and it’s wonderful to know you felt both the food and hospitality came together to create a welcoming experience. Your perspective on how we strive to bring something special to the neighborhood is deeply appreciated, and we look forward to your next visit.

With gratitude,
Antidote

Antidote was one of those dining experiences where every single dish surprised us in the best way. The food is incredibly flavorful, elevated Sichuan cuisine with bold, layered flavors that really stand out.

We ordered the Fei Hong fries, mushroom ravioli in truffle chili sauce, caramel glaze eggplants, Kung Pao chicken, and the XO sauce prawns with glass noodles, and honestly every dish was fantastic. The caramelized eggplants and the mushroom ravioli were especially memorable - rich, balanced, and packed with flavor. The space itself is beautiful — intimate and cozy, with a lovely glass-roof area filled with plants that gives the restaurant a really warm atmosphere. It feels like the perfect spot for a date night or a relaxed dinner with friends.

The staff were also wonderful. They guided us through the menu and gave spot-on recommendations for both food and drinks, which made the whole experience even better!
I already caught myself thinking about the food again the next day, always the sign of a great meal. Highly recommend checking this place out if you love bold, flavorful Chinese cuisine!

Response from the owner

Hello Tetiana,

Hearing how the layered flavors and the inviting, plant-filled setting left a strong impression on you is incredibly rewarding for our team. We’re so glad our staff’s guidance helped create an experience you’re still thinking about.

With appreciation,
Antidote

I’ve had takeout from this place multiple times and it has always been great, but unfortunately, I dined in there tonight for the first time and I wasn’t that impressed with the food and probably won’t return for a while.

Response from the owner

Hello Tina,

We genuinely appreciate you sharing your experience, especially since you’ve been happy with takeout in the past. It’s disappointing to hear that your meal didn’t meet your expectations when dining in, and we’re grateful you let us know.

Kind regards,
Antidote

Just adding to the rave reviews: do not miss the cucumber salad, fei-hong fries, tea smoked duck, or caramelized eggplant. These were genuinely mind-blowing.

Also liked the crab tofu and the sautéed green beans, but the list above cannot be missed.

Response from the owner

Hello Christine,

It’s wonderful to hear which dishes stood out for you, and we’re grateful you found so much to enjoy across the menu. Your feedback inspires our team and truly encourages us to keep sharing flavors that surprise and delight.

Warmest thanks,
Antidote

Wow. I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while, and this went above and beyond my expectations. I eat a lot of Szechuan food so my standards are pretty high and I’d have to say that this place has shot up to the near top of my list. Probably the best take on Chungking style fried chicken I’ve had yet and the sliced fish stew dish was unreal. We also had the woodear mushroom salad and pork soup dumplings as starters. Everything was packed with flavor but I’d have to say that fish dish was the highlight. Cannot wait to order that again. On top of the amazing food (not to mention the incredible cocktails), the service was impeccable , and the live jazz was sublime; a very pleasant surprise. A 10/10 experience. Would love to see their take on 3-pepper chicken on the menu someday 😉 but needless to say, I’ll be back soon.

Delicious food and wonderful atmosphere. Very comfortable for a party of 7 that could’ve accommodated 10 easily. We ordered multiple dishes and every dish was very authentic to my Cantonese taste buds. Staff spoke Cantonese as well which surprised me. I knew the food was going to be good. Would recommend anyone who doesn’t want to take a trip to Chinatown for food and wants authentic tasting Chinese food

Response from the owner

Hello Peter,

We’re really glad to know you and your group felt comfortable and that our flavors brought a bit of authenticity closer to home for you. It’s especially rewarding to hear the experience resonated with your Cantonese background.

Thanks so much,
Antidote

If you're looking for good authentic Chinese food but a more modern setting, the Antidote is the perfect choice! Was looking for a Chinese restaurant with vegetarian options but in more modern setting that would be suitable to catch up with a few family friends. The restaurant is nicely decorated, spacious with lovely greenery touches. We went on a Saturday afternoon right as they opened. Definitely suggest making a reservation because they do get busy pretty quick. Food was delicious (even my Chinese aunties complimented the taste of everything). Price-wise it is definitely more expensive than your average Chinese restaurant but worth it. Staff were attentive but not overbearing (I hate when they constantly hover around). Overall it was a great dining experience, definitely would recommend to others.

Response from the owner

Hi Deborah,

We’re so glad you found our space welcoming for catching up with friends and that everyone enjoyed the flavors, including your aunties’ seal of approval. Knowing our atmosphere and vegetarian options made your visit special really encourages us to keep bringing our best.

With gratitude,
Antidote

No notes on this place. Simply outstanding food, great ambiance, perfect for coming with friends so you get to try a lot of the menu items. They were all fantastic. Would come back to keep on trying stuff for sure. Our favourtie dish was the crab tofu!
Highly recommend coming here! Thanks for the great experience

Response from the owner

Hi Bianca,

It’s wonderful to hear how much you enjoyed sharing dishes with friends and discovering some new favorites along the way. Your kind words about the atmosphere and your meal truly mean a lot to us.

Warm regards,
Antidote

I’ve been here twice with friends. Staff were nice, normal space. Food was good but definitely you pay for the experience in the prices. If you are familiar with Chinese food, then this might not be a place to visit necessarily, but if you r not, worth once.

🌿💚Veggie dishes for vegan were surprisingly delicious! I highly recommend them. Especially the one in my pic (green slices)

Dandan noodles were ok. Classic flavor.

Same did the chive pancakes.

Tea-smoked duck was a little buttery and expensive.

Response from the owner

Hello Julia,

It’s wonderful to hear you enjoyed the veggie options and found the atmosphere welcoming, even if some dishes and pricing didn’t quite match your expectations. Your perspective is truly valuable to us, and we’re grateful for your thoughtful feedback on both the menu and overall experience.

With gratitude,
Antidote

I usually give good reviews but after eating here, I ended up with an upset stomach🤒, The service was nice 🙂, though, staff were friendly.
I didn’t expect to be this disappointed 😞. I’ve seen so many positive reviews 👍, but—this was my real experience.
Fei-Hong Fries 🥔 (US$16.00): The supposedly recommended signature dish is actually very mediocre 😐. The fries are bland, and the pre-made chili powder has no special flavor 🌶️.

Fish With Spicy Bean Paste 🐟 (US$34.00): The fish is clearly not fresh, frozen ❄️, with tough, compact texture. I couldn’t taste any bean paste , and it was overly sweet almost inedible.

Fried Rice With Shredded Duck 🦆🍚 (US$18.00): The smoked flavor is way too strong , overpowering everything else and making it hard to enjoy.

Crab Tofu 🦀🍲 (US$26.00): Also pre-made, but the taste is okay 👌—probably the most acceptable dish of the meal.

Overall the experience was very disappointing. I won’t come back, and I won’t recommend it

Response from the owner

Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We truly appreciate all guest reviews, as they help us continue to improve.
We’d like to clarify that all of our dishes are made fresh to order, and our fish is sourced fresh daily from local Fish Markets, it is never frozen. That said, we understand that taste is personal, and we’re genuinely sorry that the flavors did not meet your expectations during your visit. We’re glad to hear that you found our service friendly and attentive. If anything feels off during a meal, we always encourage guests to let their server know right away, as we’re more than happy to address concerns on the spot and make things right whenever possible. We appreciate you giving us a try and sharing your experience, and we wish you the very best moving forward.
Best,
Antidote Team

The place looks really nice and is great for a date night, but honestly, the service was super slow. We tried to get a server’s attention multiple times, but no one came. A lot of staff were just walking around, and our plates were never changed. Even bringing out our birthday cake took forever. The food was okay — definitely not as amazing as people say. Nice vibe, but both service and food need some improvement.

I really enjoyed the food and overall atmosphere at Antidote. The tables are spacious and not too cramped as in most of NYC places. Portion sizes were generous considering the pricing.
I’m not a fan of large menus, but with the help of our server, we made our choices pretty quickly. The service was very attentive, and the food came out fast.
Highly recommended!

Response from the owner

Dear Anja,
Thank you for your kind words! We're thrilled you enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. We strive to provide the best for our customers. Looking forward to serving you again.
Sincerely,
Antidote
