American Girl Place New York

Booked an afternoon mid-week birthday party here for a young adult and it might be the best decision I made this year! We had a private room (it was pink! with a chandelier!, the AG party host played great music, we were offered crafts, cute upgrades and party attendees who didn’t bring dolls were offered AG companions of their choosing for the fete. Adorable! Lunch included fanciful non-alcoholic drinks and standard American options (like sliders). We were offered cinnamon rolls upon arrival and tiered snack trays before the meal. The cake was pretty and yummy! We left with gift bags and at least one guest said she loved it so much that she plans on having her own birthday party here next year.

Cool experience for my daughter, cafe was decent. I really didn’t appreciate the lady helping us. She constantly was trying to take my black daughter to the white dolls, and even said “ these dolls hair is easier to work with”. Well we had a nice discussion, on appreciating the beauty in your own skin and hair, and we helped ourselves from then on.

We went to celebrate my granddaughters 9th birthday. We took her best friend and the girls absolutely loved the store. They picked a few things and then we went for a late lunch . We were seated promptly. The lunch was delicious and very reasonably priced. Our server Ramon was outstanding and went above and beyond to make our girls day special. It happened to be Mothers Day and I couldn’t think of a better way to spend it. If you have a young girl do not miss this experience.

I took my 8 yr old granddaughter for her first visit. We had an appt with the salon for her and her doll. I watched the stylists with other girls chatting and being kind. Not so much ours. In fact she criticized my granddaughter’s hair for being cut (ethnic curly hair)<br>She then completely straightened her hair without even asking if okay with me.<br>The mirror above the salon states “ Be your own kind of beautiful “. To me, that’s encouraging girls to feel beautiful as they are. Not with criticism or changing their hair type all together. The girl that checked us in (Emily) was super kind and gave us suggestions for her curly hair. Then, the stylist did what she wanted. Another employee (Paige) even stood over her and made simply awful faces watching her getting her hair done This made my granddaughter uncomfortable and she even began to cry.<br><br>This was our vacation and our vacation money. I never expected to spend it to feel judged and that her hair needed to be changed. We embrace her natural curls and encourage her to feel beautiful exactly as she is!<br><br>Update: Asked to send email (which I did same day). No response from American Girl at all

I brought my 7 year old daughter for her birthday to do the Spring Flower Painting and brunch. 10/10 was made to feel so comfortable and I give credit to every worker from the front desk down to the servers. Absolutely awesome time celebrating my girl!!<br>AND THE CAFE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS!!!!<br><br>Edit- I brought my two other daughters and they were provided dolls to borrow during the meal and painting. I love how they include everyone!!

I sent my truly me doll Megan to the doll hospital about 4 weeks ago. She came back with new hair and her eyes were reset. She looks so amazing. I love her as always loved her for over 20 years. Thank you so much for making this happen.

We visited American Girl Place New York for the first time and absolutely loved it! The doll displays are so fun, nostalgic, and unique. There are cute photo opportunities, and the salon is such a fun addition to an already amazing store. There is such an amazing selection of dolls and doll accessories. American Girl Place New York is fun for all ages to shop at. American Girl Place New York is a must see while in New York City! Highly recommend!

We had an amazing hair salon experience. We were luck to end up with a phenomenal hair stylist, Amanda. She was gentle with my daughter's natural curly hair. My daughter absolutely loved her hair style as well as her doll's. We look forward to doing this experience again ! The store is so cute and there are so many shopping options. Hot wheels for the boys and books for the older girls who may not be as in to the dolls anymore. Both of my daughters left happy.

I visited the American Girl Store in Manhattan with my daughter, and we really enjoyed it. The store is beautiful, spacious, and full of interactive areas. My daughter had a great time and was truly delighted. The variety of dolls is impressive and everything is bright and engaging.<br><br>One small suggestion — not a complaint. As a Muslim mom, I would love to see dolls wearing a hijab included in the collection. It would be wonderful to show such dolls to my daughter and buy one for her, and I believe many Muslim mothers would feel the same. It would make the store even more inclusive and welcoming.<br><br>Overall, the store is wonderful, and we will definitely come back again.

I love it here. I didn’t have my daughter with me this trip so it wasn’t as much fun as it would have been with her. There is the salon, tearoom, and the shop. I just loved seeing all the dolls on display and there was even a basketball hoop to shoot baskets in.

The American Girl store is truly magical. Everything is colorful, nostalgic, and full of heart, and the entire place is absolutely beautiful. The café is such a fun touch—the food is genuinely good, and it’s adorable how everything is themed for the dolls and kids. It’s such a sweet experience and really adds to the magic of the visit!<br>We did the lunch, hair, and nails salon package, and it was so much fun. We’ll definitely be coming back! I’m still so sad they closed the store in NC, but I’m grateful we can still enjoy the experience elsewhere.

OMG such a wonderful store. So many dolls and accessories. They do have a doll salon, but you have to make an appointment. The process were reasonable and they did have a sale section. I loved seeing all the beautiful dolls and their outfits.

The American Girl store is literally magic. I have loved this brand since I was little & at 22 I still collect the dolls with the same excitement I had as a kid. Everything is colorful, nostalgic, and full of heart and the place is so beautiful. The café is also such a fun touch. The food is genuinely good, & it’s adorable how everything is themed for the dolls and kids. I totally get that it’s geared toward children, but since most kids come with their parents, I do think they could make the portion sizes a little bigger for adults. Still, it’s such a sweet experience and really adds to the magic of the visit!!

Another dream came true, getting to visit my dream American girl flagship store location. ✨What a fantastic and memorable mum and I both had walking through the 2 level displays, interactive games and photo opportunities in the store ! This was the location I had begged mum to take me to for a day trip as a child and dreamt of having my birthday here when I was younger. More tears were shed as I immersed myself in what I love most … my American girl dolls 💫🩷 Each store has unique displays and layouts which is really cool to see and compare to other stores that I plan to visit. What I loved most in the store was seeing each Girl of the year dolls displayed from 2001- 2024 and going through which ones I own . Also there was a beautiful display of all the historical dolls and seeing the retired dolls that are no longer sold on display for the first time was such a surreal experience 🫶🏼 I also had the opportunity to have the personal shopper experience during my visit which made the experience even more special . It still feels so surreal to be able to be up close to the dolls and their collections and chose what I’m wanting to buy instead of having to purchase through eBay or second hand🥺<br><br>I had my birthday at the American Girl cafe on Sunday - They say you can never be too old to have your dreams come true ✨🩷this birthday at the American girl cafe will be one I’ll never forget 🧁🎀💗🌷 This was the experience I had been dreaming to have ever since I was 11 years old and it truely feels so surreal that today was the day! The service was exceptional by all the staff at the American girl store / Cafe 🩷 It was such a special day to share my birthday here today! The food was absolutely delicious and there is so much to choice from. Having booked the deluxe party package we had a complementary choice of drink( I chose pink lemonade ), For starters we had Warm Welcome Cinnamon Buns and a tier loaded of food (Roasted beet hummus and Boursin mousse cucumber bite, carrot sticks, minch dipping sauce, cantaloupe and honeydew, strawberry-and'-grape fruit skewer, beef meatball, fried cheese rd marinara dipping sauce). For lunch we chose fancy bow tie pasta 🍝 and for desert we had the American girl signature cake with ice cream! This was the birthday I always had wanted as a child and it definitely met my expectations . What a magical birthday 🫶🏼🧁

We just left American girl and sadly our experience was very mixie. Initially, we did a phone order for pick up today. It was my six-year-old’s birthday. That went smooth and we worked with Emily one of the managers. Now for experience part… we let our daughter pick out a few more items in store we went to the café and they told us we couldn’t go in with un purchase items which wasn’t an issue. We said okay no problem we expressed we were pressed for time we had to leave by 3:15 our cafe reservation was for 2:15. Food was mediocre and cake was dry even the fruits were not fresh but for the price i guess that part was okay. Well upon us, leaving, they had taken our stuff and told us that café close at two, which makes no sense so now we had to frantically run around the store to find the items and to purchase which took us time. Then we have to speak to a manager and was told there’s managers for each department because we had another issue with the nail salon. My daughter got her nails done and sat for almost 20 minutes for them to dry and when we went to the café, and I touched her nails. They were still not dry and were smuggy in a nail tech so i know they painted her nails way too thick. I demanded a refund. Then the way my points were used i wasn’t even able to use them on the purchased items. So shout to saving money when we spent hundreds. To top it off we landed up 30 mins late and now cost us additional parking and me late for a work meeting and an appointment.
