we love you bondi
Whenever i ask anyone that has visited Sydney where they stayed, the answer is always Bondi. Not surprisingly, this world famous beach attracts people from all over the globe with it's stunning white sand, crystal blue waters and it’s close proximity to the CBD.
If you’re a local, living in Bondi means starting your day with a run and a swim before popping on a suit and heading into the city (a lifestyle you just can't beat). And if you’re a tourist, well you're lucky, you can start your day the same way and never have to leave!
With Bondi being so iconic and a place where i spend a lot of my time when i'm in Sydney, i thought it was the perfect spot to kick off my Sydney travel guide.
Undeniably one of the best things to do in Sydney is the BRONTE TO BONDI walk. I love doing this walk first thing in the morning, grabbing brekkie and a coffee when i hit Bondi and then heading back to spend an hour or so lying on Tamarama Beach (or Glamarama as the locals call it!). If you're lucky and happen to be visiting at the end of October/early November you'll catch the incredible SCULPTURE BY THE SEA exhibition where you might find things like an ice cream truck melting into the sand or a gigantic "message in a bottle" hanging out on the rocks. Just be mindful that the walk gets SUPER busy at that time so it's best to go early in the morning to beat the crowds.
If you're one of those people that go on holidays and still need to exercise like crazy then girls, BOTTOMS UP FITNESS is for you! Founded by one of my favorite people in the world, Libby Babet, these early morning beach workouts are so, so mean but if you can get through them, a great way to start the day. Guys aren't on the invite list unfortunately but if you traveling with your man and are after an awesome couples workout, head up Bondi Road to AGOGA. Also founded by Libby and her husband, Agoga offers a 'boot camp' style workout with everything from interval running, weights and TRX.... and will really kick your butt!
If you happen to be around on a Saturday the BONDI FARMERS MARKET is a great spot to grab a coffee and check out the local health food scene. Located at the Bondi Beach Public School on Campbell Parade it's open from 9am-1pm and has everything from fresh fruit and veg to coffee, ready made mueslis and cold pressed juices.
If you're a bit of a shopaholic like me, take a wander along Gould Street and check out some of my favorite stores like TUCHUZY, AESOP and UASHMAMA. Perhaps leave your credit card at home though as this street is VERY dangerous!
Aussie's pride themselves on their coffee making skills so it's pretty hard to get a bad one anywhere in Sydney. We also do the best brekkie in the world, something i really miss about living there. I mean, we are the home of the flat white and avo toast! (yes, we've been doing avo toast way before it became a "thing"!).
Bondi has lots of fabulous places to eat but here are some of my faves....
PORCH AND PARLOUR: Breakfast and lunch from 6.30am everyday.
If you can fight with the North Bondi hipster crowd and score a spot outside, this is one of my favorite places to start the day. A great spot to people watch and the added bonus of the ocean view makes that morning coffee taste extra good. There are so many delicious things on the menu but try the pea pancake, it's amazing!

NORTH BONDI FISH: Monday-Sunday 12pm- late
This is one of my favorite places to eat in Sydney, period. It's a place where lunch can easily turn into dinner (it's happened quite a few times!) and watching the sunset over the beach is beyond stunning. Just be mindful that on the weekends it gets VERY busy so best to book ahead or turn up early and grab a drink at the bar while you wait. My suggestion for lunch? A bottle of rose, the Sydney rock oysters and the tuna tartare.

FOR AFTERNOON TEA
ORCHARD STREET: Monday-Friday 7am-5pm, Saturday 8am-5pm, Sunday 9am-5pm
The perfect spot for that sweet craving, Orchard street offers organic cold pressed juices, smoothies, hot teas, coffee, kombucha on tap and the most delicious raw, vegan desserts around. I'd tell you my favorite but i don't have one. They are all amazing!

Bondi’s Best: 5pm-9:30pm Mon-Fri; 12pm-late Sat-Sun
A locals favourite, this restaurant serves up more than your average fish & chips. The seafood is sustainably sourced and cooked to perfection and the chips are thick cut. What more could you ask for when you’re people watching out the window, glass of wine in hand? If you’re in the mood for something lighter, try their fresh oysters followed by sake-washed kingfish with miso eggplant.
Shop 8, 75-79 Hall St, Bondi http://bondisbest.com.au
Casual cocktails and great pizza is what you'll find at this casually hip restaurant situated just up from the beach on Bondi Road. Start your evening at the bar upstairs and then make your way down to the restaurant to enjoy delicious, seasonal Italian fare.

SEANS PANORAMA: Wednesday- Saturday dinner from 6pm, Saturday and Sunday lunch from 12pm
With a menu that is literally from their farm to your table, Seans Panorama provides fresh, clean, deliciously modern yet comfortable food in one of the best locations in Bondi. Sunday lunch here is my favourite time to wine and dine as you just can't beat the colour of that blue ocean in the background as you devour the homemade bread and butter that is quietly tempting you from the middle of the table....

BONDI HEALTH EMPORIUM: Monday- Friday 8am-7pm, Weekends 8am-6pm
Bondi Health Emporium is my go-to stop after spending the morning at the beach. As well as the cafe that offers organic juices, smoothies, salads and pastry goods they have an extensive grocery store (that has also been around for a while- they opened in 1996) offering organic fruit and veg, breads, fish, meats, cleaning products, you name it! Oh and they have a selection of delicious cookbooks to tempt you as you check out too.
