Bianca Monley is wonder woman. Driven and highly successful, she is the brains behind Australia's leading health food delivery company Eat Fit Food and Eat Fit Farm, a stunning property just south of Sydney producing fresh fruits and vegetables for the Eat Fit Food meals. And she does this all while being a mother to (now) 3 kids. Wow.
Born in Wanaka, NZ to a family of entrepreneurs, Bianca was exposed to the world of food from a very young age. Growing up, her family owned a restaurant that Bianca spent many hours at cleaning tables, mopping floors and learning one of the most invaluable life lessons early: hard work pays off.
Bianca moved to Sydney in the year 2000 and a few years later (at the ripe young age of 22), started Eat Fit Food from a tiny kitchen in her then Bondi apartment.
"I was working in the fitness industry at the time and saw how people were eating, mainly protein shakes that were full of crap. So i wanted to start a convenient way for people to be healthy while still eating real food."
A lot of you don't know this but my sister Samantha is disabled. Sam has a rare chromosomal disorder called Smith Magenis Syndrome and has lived in a government funded home since she was 16 (she is now 28). Sadly, over the years her weight has always been a bit of a problem. This is mainly due to side effects of the medication she takes, coupled with the staff members feeding her things like frozen chicken nuggets for lunch and pizza or chips for dinner. Sometimes out of laziness, sometimes because of budget constraints but generally out of a lack of education around food. It's something we have tried our hardest to manage but when Sam ballooned to 100kgs a few years ago, i knew we had to step in and change things for good.
So we started her on the Eat Fit Food program. And with a lot of hard work (not all the staff members have been on board over the years and it has been incredibly frustrating, especially when i hear that instead of eating her meal someone has given her a jam sandwich) we finally got there. Sam has lost just over 20kgs, drinks a fresh juice every day, her eyes are sparkling and her skin is glowing. It's incredible to see how eating real food makes such a difference.
And this is how Bianca and i met.
Eat Fit Food operates in Sydney and Melbourne (for now, Bianca has big plans to expand!) and helps families with busy lifestyles by delivering locally and ethically sourced healthy meals straight to your door. Calorie and portion controlled, the meals are nutritionally balanced (Bianca has an in-house nutritionist) without compromising on flavor. They cater to all dietary requirements (i know this as my sister can be a real pain with what she does and doesn't like on a day to day basis. It's part of her disease and oh-so-frustrating!) with gluten, meat and dairy free meals always an option.
Not only is Bianca a successful businesswoman but she gives back too. Losing both of her parents at a young age has driven her partnership with Pink Hope , an organization dedicated to offering support and guidance to those undergoing cancer treatments. Something that is also very dear to my heart.
My dad passed away a few years ago after a 3 year battle with cancer. I saw first hand how in the moments where nutrition is needed the most, patients battling to fight their diseases are fed food-like, chemically laden, processed products with no nutritional value at all. My dad was even told by his doctor to eat sugar when he was going through chemo. SUGAR! (where is the wide eyed emoji when you need it?)
But there is hope and it's Pink! Teaming up with this incredible charity, Eat Fit Food donates healthy, REAL FOOD meals to cancer patients on a monthly basis. Providing them with the nutrition they need for their road to recovery. Which is all sorts of amazing in my book.
Bianca is nothing short of inspirational which is why her nomination for the Veuve Clicquot New Generation 2016 award is well deserved and i wish her the best of luck.
