"Apple picking is as much a part of welcoming the fall as pumpkin carving here in the northeast of America. The madness that surrounds these things is still something i am getting used to, even after living here for quite a long time!
This recipe came about when my lovely photographer Morgan spotted a bowl full of apples on my counter and suggested that we fire up the cooktop and try griddling them as she had tasted some recently and thought they were amazing... So we did and voila! She was right! They are simply DELICIOUS!
Something that is really important to remember when buying apples, especially at this time of year, is that they are the no.1 most highly sprayed crop in America so ALWAYS buy organic or talk to your local farmer about what they use as a pesticide as the less chemicals we are ingesting on a daily basis, the better."
I N G R E D I E N T S:
spices - cinnamon, all spice, ginger
- Cut the apples horizontally so that the "star" in the middle is showing in every piece. You can cut them as thin or as thick as you like. Remove seeds.
- Place the griddle on the cooktop and heat up.
- Brush each apple piece with a tiny bit of coconut oil and transfer to the griddle. Leaving them sitting face down for at least 5 minutes and then checking to see if griddle marks have started to appear.
- When you see the griddle marks, turn the apples to the other side and repeat.
- Serve with a drizzle of local honey and a pinch of your favorite spice!
